Msoc: Home VS Southern

Unread post by Apppstate » Sat Nov 04, 2017 7:03 pm

At the half we are down 2-0 and have yet to register a shot, not a shot on goal, a single shot.
If we don’t find a way to tie this game we will end up in last place in the Sunbelt for the season.
Would be an utter embarrassment of a season if we finish below Howard.
Let’s hope they find a way back in it

Howard tied Hartwick tonight virtually assuring the Apps of finishing in the FunBelt cellar. The Apps would have to beat GaSou to finish ahead of Howard. That would take a major miracle for a team down two goals with under 3 minutes to play...a team that has managed just six shots and two corner kicks in this match.

The announcers have repeatedly made remarks about ASU's lack of international players. Coach O'Keefe just doesn't have the resources. He's funded with nine (9) scholarships, which is the NCAA max for D-I. Unfortunately, those scholarships are funded based on "in-state" tuition. That's a tough row to hoe.

You should be able to find 11 players from North Carolina that can handle Howard easily. They are 1-14-3 I think. You’re telling me you need more than 9 internationals to finish above them in the standings?
There is no way that is why they aren’t finishing above Howard.
I wonder how much of what the announcers are saying is coming from OKeefe to try to keep the pressure off himself

That's nuts! I would hope that our program's annual goal is a lot more ambitious than just finishing ahead of Howard.

While we have an occasional bright spot , Men's Cross country currently, our overall athletic program isn't exactly excelling. Wrestling isn't a conference sport but looks to be winters best bet .

From what I've seen, I'm not impressed with O'Keefe. Sloppy style of play and he berates the officials.

This team has regressed badly over the past 2 years. You don’t think he definitely knew what his recruiting budget was when took the job? He has to have more operating and scholarship money than any coach in the history of the program. I wonder if it’s too early for him to be worrying about his job.

Is it the style of play or do we just lack anyone with offensive skill?
