AppinVa, how often do you get to Boone for a game. Will you be at the GaSo game?

Not as often as I'd like. I was down for the Wake Forest game, though. I will not be able to make the Georgia Southern game, as it would require me to take off two days.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Sun Nov 05, 2017 8:34 pmAppinVa, how often do you get to Boone for a game. I'd rather see 30,000 there on a Saturday than have the money ESPN will pay for a Thursday. The atmosphere suffers when we have smaller crowds. I can't make a Thursday night game.AppinVA wrote: ↑Sun Nov 05, 2017 11:02 pmNot as often as I'd like. I was down for the Wake Forest game, though. Though I'll be there with my son--he had to take 2 days off--. NewApp reminds me of an interesting question... With TV monies drying up in G-5, how long will it be before a "break-even"--Weekday TV vs. Saturday occurs? If "break-even" does occur, is the exposure factor still going to outweigh the fan experience/atmosphere? I honestly don't see how the MAC conference teams can stand their deal.

Since I work some weekends I can't make all the games, and without the 2nd job I certainly could not afford to travel back and forth for every game along with the other costs of tickets and food and gas for the car.AppinVA wrote: ↑Sun Nov 05, 2017 11:02 pmNot as often as I'd like. I will be at Thursday's game which is my last for the year for football.
I am hoping to get the family to Boone for the Davidson basketball game. This might be the only time two of my three daughters face each other on a weekend game. If baseball plays Davidson it will most likely be during the week. The other daughter goes to a DII all-female school.
Basically I want to meet at some point and share some jokes and relive some Simpsons face to face.

Sounds great. My sister lives in Greensboro and my nephew has been in some of the camps put on by the Science Center. I might get back down for the Louisiana game, and I want to get down for a shooty hoops game or two.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Mon Nov 06, 2017 11:14 amSince I work some weekends I can't make all the games, and without the 2nd job I certainly could not afford to travel back and forth for every game along with the other costs of tickets and food and gas for the car.AppinVA wrote: ↑Sun Nov 05, 2017 11:02 pmNot as often as I'd like. Everyone should make their feelings known about the property. They have been having sessions and I'm including a link where you can submit your thoughts about how we should use the property if you can't be at the public forum. This is just another step in the process. Time to let them know what should be there.

Re: Old Watauga HS now App State property
I personally think they should use that property in a mixed-use capacity. While I'm all for athletics, the academic and administrative buildings on campus are deteriorating and could use some replacements, too. I'd love to see the track moved out there, as well as maybe one or two other athletic facilities. Then, I'd like to see a nice parking deck for additional parking for the university and for game day, a residence hall or two for upperclassmen, and a few academic buildings that would satisfy that side of the university.

Re: Old Watauga HS now App State property
Will we not get the consultants who just worked up the most recent grand master plan to work on this?
I think if additional parking decks are built that they should be at each corner of campus in an attempt to have fewer cars have to cross campus. A new deck where Legends is and a new one behind Holmes would be best places.
I don't know about trying to make a mini campus there with housing and all. It seems as though dorms belong on campus and if University Housing wants another apartment complex live University Highlands, then I suppose that is ok terraced up from the flat parts.
Does Sofield become our indoor tennis center sice it is up with the outdoor courts and we build a new full size indoor practice facility. If that's the case shouldn't it be near the stadium?
Lots of possibilities....

Re: Old Watauga HS now App State property
The old football field and track could easily be demolished and renovated into a nice track and field space. The area where old HS building was along with the baseball field could also be reconfigured to support soccer. As far as parking, Id say just repave the lot and make a satellite lot with Appalcart access on gameday. Too far from campus for dorm or classrooms in my opinion.
