I was still in HS in 2002 and I remember watching this live on FS-South with my dad who is a proud Furman grad. I think he intentionally spelled "Apalachian" on my tuition checks as a blast at The Mountaineer's.

OH yes. The "Miracle on the Mountain" play. Love that it's Napier going to LaLa...adds a little something to the rivalry mix.

Re: Louisiana looks to have new coach
Yep, I remember that game very well. I was watching on TV and started to turn it off after they scored; damn Furman won. Then just before I hit the button they lined up to go for two; oh well I thought, it doesn't matter if they make it or not, they won the game, and I started to turn the TV off again only to find it was a pass play. I took my finger off the off button and watched history being made. I love Taylor Lamb and I think his Dad's a good coach but he made what may be the most bone-headed coaching call I've ever seen. Whenever I recount that play, people ask why he did that to which I reply, I don't know.

Re: Louisiana looks to have new coach
Taylor's Mom told me recently that Little Taylor was on the sideline with his Dad and cried when he heard all the fans booing his Dad. Another story; the next morning when Furman had returned home, Taylor ran into his Dads room as ESPN was showing a replay of the "Miracle " saying something like "Dad they are showing the play again!" I am so glad we have the Lamb family on our sideline. They are a great and loving family. I have had the privilege to meet them and share several chats with many in the family.. I'll miss them as much as I 'll miss Taylor next year.

Except that wasn't the play that was called. Bobby took the fall but ...well we'll just leave it at that.mikeyosef wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2017 2:55 pmYep, I remember that game very well. Re: Louisiana looks to have new coach
My understanding is that Napier audibled out of the play called. It made Bobby look the fool but he never thru Napier under the bus.

That's entirely believable. With that in mind,
this suggestion seems even more appropriate.

I for one think that this was a very solid hire for the UL(L).

Add we thought Hud hated coming to Boone. Bring on the bonehead mistakes, he will feel some pressure in any game here.

Louisiana spending the $$ with this hire.
That pool is $750,000 more than the next highest for assistants in the Belt.

Where is this money coming from? We’re being irresponsible at this point.
