Re: Game
The “our hearts weren’t in it” excuse is the biggest load of dung.
No way Candle underestimated us. He knows Satt and he knows App and he had no intention of losing to us two years in a row.
I don’t care for a second that some Toledo fans took this win for granted. There’s no way the team took it for granted. Is it so hard to accept that they might have prepared well and still got taken out behind the woodshed?

Re: Game
I was astonished to see us still pressure and sack Woodside at times with just 3 guys rushing. So, eight guys back in coverage and the other 3 were still keeping Woodside on his heels...amazing. Caleb Fuller was a beast and played out of his head, as did Flory...just to name a few.

Re: Game
It was us, not them. Our defense and running game were absolutely stellar. Just dominant.Goapps15 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 24, 2017 10:42 amBeing in the stands last night it was not a fluke. Maybe the most dominant defensive performance I've seen in 20+ years considering the opponent.
Our players were in their heads. The 4th and 1 at midfield to begin the 2nd half broke their will. There was not a G5 team we couldn't have beaten last night.
The guys were chanting "goose egg" with two minutes left. They saw the comments and played with a swagger.

Re: Game
You could tell from the start of the game we were very prepared and ready for Toledo. The announcers even made mention of that and our game plan on both offense and especially defense kept them confused and off thier game from start to finish. By far this is the best complete game I have seen us play in years if ever. It is great to be a Mountaineer!

Re: Game
I really enjoyed watching the game this year because App showed up focused and ready to play. I don't see anything wrong with what Rocket_Fanatic said. Toledo looked flat last night. A big part of that was a smothering App Defense, but it is also completely possible that they took App lightly and thought they would roll. I do not believe they "didn't care" or were "unmotivated". That is fan speak and feels like excuses, although in my opinion a team who "doesn't care" about winning the bowl game following their conference championship has more to be ashamed of than the team that just plain gets beat.
Rocket_Fanatic, thanks for coming over and being a good sport. For the record, I didn't think App looked like we played our best game last year. It's hard to separate which part is a team being "flat" or out of synch and which part is the opposing team. It's all part of the contest.
Great win, Apps!

Re: Game
I love when our guys get disrespected by other teams of supposedly the same level. It ignites the fire. We have always been fighting to gain notoriety and respect, being in a state with 4 p5 teams. We are used to it. So all you g5’s out there keep disrespecting us. It will be our pleasure to whip your ass.

Re: Game
No he’s probably right. Toledo threw the game. Humongous amounts of money flying around Vegas for this one. They were supposed to score at least a FG but we kind of ruined that I reckon. Agree..dumb addition to any thread. Toledo wasn’t flat or uninspired. They were totally and completely dominated by a superior team with too many weapons.
