From Oct. 11, 2014 Until Dec. 23, 2017 ---

Unread post by WVAPPeer » Thu Dec 28, 2017 2:49 pm

As we come to the end of 2017 and another season of APP football, I decided to finalize my thoughts as I sign off - I went back to the aftermath of the Liberty game of '14 to highlight my feelings from that point until now - Some of you might want to go back to '14 and read the threads concerning that team and coaches. There were several others, like myself, who saw what the future would tell. The names FireMoose, AppGrad78 and AppSt94 come to mind (and I'm sure there were a few others) who were singing the same song as I - some weren't singing at all and some were singing a totally different song. Oh, and there were a couple preaching FIRE and brimstone --- As all of you know, from this day forward the APPs would go 36-9, Win Back to Back to Back Bowl Games and 2 SunBelt Titles --- Quite an accomplishment !!!

Hey, GUESS WHAT, We are YOUNG !!!

First, in full disclosure, I did not attempt to weed through all the different topics on the board since the game ended. Secondly, I am disappointed in our record at this stage of the season. Thirdly, Coach Satterfield is not going to get fired. PERIOD!
1. Those of you out there who pushed so hard for APP to move up to FBS (I was more of an on the fence guy but once it happened I totally supported it) we need to heard from in a positive way - I don't know anyone who thought this was going to be an easy transition - We are still in an NCAA mandated transition year - THOSE WHO REALLY WANTED THIS MOVE UP NEED TO BE HERE SUPPORTING THE COACHES, THE TEAM, AND THE FANS !!!
2. It is so disheartening to read every week that coaches should be fired - these are men, in several cases, who have uprooted their families and made the move to Boone. I guarandamntee you it wasn't to get rich. I have never heard that they don't give their all for ASU, who do you think pounded the pavement all over the country to find these really good young players we have and convinced them to sign on the dotted line?
3. The game itself --- A few comments I did read, I saw things like "showing no progress" - Well offensively, I am not sure how you say that - 630 yards of total offense - against anyone - is getting it done --- 48 points - GOOD - 4 turnovers - BAD
4. Taylor is getting better and he will continue to do so. I am 100% sure no one on here feels worse than he does over the INTs - We saw, I think, a breakout game for the Wide Receivers --- Meadors adds some size and speed and Malachi continues to improve - McElfresh has great hands and he can play for me any day - BoBo had his best game - McGuire is steady and there are others not playing (RS or injury)
5. Upshaw and Cox both have shown flashes this season and both went for over 100 yards yesterday - for a FR and a SO we have good things to look forward to
6. Don't know where the comments (If I understood them correctly) about getting bigger on the line and knocked around came from - The Jumbo OL started yesterday =
Lamm 6'6" - 305
Collins 6'3" - 295 - SO
Chapman 6'1" - 275
Gossett 6'6" - 315 - FR
Nunn - 6'4" - 290 - FR
I would say we are in good hands here

Some of you people could use a good “I told You So” thread every now and then. Maybe it will keep you from going off half cocked next time we don’t play a perfect game or calling for our new DC to be fired when Penn State lights us up next season. I don’t mind taking a trip back a bit to see where we came from and better appreciate what we’ve got.

We had an excellent few years.

However at that point in time fans had a right to be infuriated. See Georgia Southern now.

Part of what makes Appalachian great for our level is that our fans are passionate. Sure do we get a little ahead of ourselves, absolutely. Fans should expect excellence.

As someone else said....Scott Satterfield and Tyson Summers had the same initial record 5-13 when the Gnats fired Summers earlier this year. Glad all were not whipped into a firing fan rage at App State.
GIVE 'EM HELL APPS!

This thread was obviously posted just to get a rise out of people. It's locked.
