Re: QB next year
I’ve been under the impression Satt has been under the slight impression that Steph may well be the favorite to be the starter heading into the season considering all things go well January-August. Of course Moose can speak to the staffs feelings more than I but just the tea leaves.

Re: QB next year
I have no clue, but we have a minimum of three guys that could be D1 starting QBs next year, great problem to have.

Re: QB next year
It does seem to be a loaded but inexperienced bench. They should make each other better, we just need to see who handles the pressure best as the talent is there.

Re: QB next year
Keep in mind, were probably going to see the most responsible QB get the start. The guy who consistently makes good reads, checks in/out of the right plays, takes care of the ball and knows when to tuck it, eat it or Chuck it.

This is the most thoughtful and intelligent statement in the whole thread.
Lamb was the epitome of the statement above.

I hope everyone reflects on TLs career and his last season. 25 TD passes and 6 int's. Not to mention his timely running. He managed our teams as efficiently as any weve had. In my time I've seen the two best in Taylor and Armanti. That's like a bucket list check off.

Re: QB next year
Glenn’s a 4-A high school that plays in a so-so conference. If I had to guess who’ll be our starter against Penn State, I’d say Zac Thomas. But that’s purely a guess. Stephon Brown has shown great maturity in coming in early, but Thomas has gotten a year-and-a-half head start.

Should make for an interesting spring and fall camp, but right now I don't think any of us know enough to count out any of these kids. I hope they all push each other and whoever earns the job knows that there are very capable backups just waiting for the chance to play. Competition will make them all better.

Robbie was QB during my days at App. Loved watching him run Brakefield's Wishbone!NewApp wrote: ↑Sat Dec 30, 2017 4:24 pmRobbie Price was no slouch.Rekdiver wrote: ↑Sat Dec 30, 2017 2:38 pmI hope everyone reflects on TLs career and his last season. 25 TD passes and 6 int's. Re: QB next year
Well, not lately. But, prior to Richie Williams we had Joe Burchette. As I recall, he was 6'4", 245.
Completely different system (Power I and 4 yds. & a cloud of dust).
One of my favorite plays with Burchette, was an option-like pitch, where Joe ended up leading the blockers around the end and pancaked a 230 lb. linebacker. I don't recall how successful that play was, but I am certain the linebacker remembers.
Joe was not going to win a footrace with anyone, but he had a cannon for an arm, and he was a leader on the field.
One more comment. Anyone else notice that Cam Newton has a problem with his footwork? Almost every pass in yesterday's game sailed high. Technique is important, and Cam just never had to learn it. I would rather have a QB who has already learned proper technique.
My point: a large QB does not necessarily fit our system.

Re: QB next year
I’m not sure that I understand the correlation of the QBs size and our system but I agree on the footwork piece of your post. I imagine that Satterfield and Ponce were looking at all aspects of Brow’s game when deciding to offer him.
Here is where his size makes a difference. It is NFL size. If he progresses to become a potential Day 1 NFL draft pick, that will lead to more exposure for our school.

Re: QB next year
I am sure Coach is concerned about recruiting NFL prospects so App gets more exposure. Heck, if exposure is what is valuable, just recruit some criminals. That should do it. [sarcasm]
Can you see Joe Burchette running the spread option? That would work about as well as a 240 lb. horse jockey.

Re: QB next year
Never said that NFL size was Coach’s motivation for recruiting him. He was offered because he can make the throws needed. I never said that his size MADE him an NFL prospect. If he can run the offense and is a winner, then his size gets him in conversations regarding draft prospects. Do you think Wyoming would be getting the exposure that they are getting this year if it weren’t for Josh Allen?AppAlum1 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 01, 2018 12:04 pmI am sure Coach is concerned about recruiting NFL prospects so App gets more exposure. Re: QB next year
It's also possible he is a backup for three years. Let's let this play out before we make him an NFL prospect.
