2018 Yosef Club Levels/Benefits

Unread post by AppNation85 » Mon Jan 01, 2018 12:21 pm

So as of today it's 2018. I was looking at becoming a new member of the Yosef Club (long overdue) and I was wondering when can we expect to see the 2018 membership levels/benefits released? Or are they already out? The website shows 2017. http://appstatesports.com/news/2017/5/3 ... efits.aspx

I received an email on 12/28 from Yosef Club suggesting that no change in giving levels is expected for 2018, but also indicating it may be reviewed and advising that the new tax law changes what you may claim as a charitable contribution.

Right now, the donation levels and benefits should remain the same for 2018.

The new tax law is likely to throw a monkey wrench in when it comes to premium seating (club / suites). I know athletics is in touch with other universities to see what is the best course of action. Remember that having a new tax law is only one piece of the puzzle. Up next will be interpreting that law and running ideas up the flagpole and seeing what the IRS's reaction is. That sort of thing would likely come from the national A.D.'s association rather than from a particular school. Stay tuned for more as athletics learns more.

Any donation that does not carry with it a specific benefit remains 100% deductible. As always, the value of benefits received (parking, A.D gift) reduces the deductible portion of your contribution.

So ... If you want to park in the stadium lot, you'll need to give $2,500 in 2018. I highly recommend giving monthly gifts as many folks are able to give more than they could normally give in one lump (works well for me :) ). The bad news with monthly giving is that the website still doesn't seem to want to accommodate monthly payments on pledges, so you've got to call Yosef (silly IMO).

Thanks for being Yosef!

Doe anyone know if the new tax laws will impact companies that have a matching gift program?

Thus far it seems to be encouraging them. Many companies have come out the last 10 days and stated they are looking to apply tax savings to various programs, one of which was additional charitables contributions.
