The good news is the schedule. Right now we're tied for 5th and out of the four teams ahead of us, we don't play three of them again.
There's wins to be had if the shooting woes can be cured.

Similar situation at JMU.T-Dog wrote: ↑Sat Jan 13, 2018 9:51 pmI was less than impressed with Fox's coaching today. I felt like GaSouthern was going through the motions and they pulled it out.
Shabazz was taken out with 8 left and the Eagles went on a run. Final play was Shabazz taking a three, despite only being down one. And there was a timeout left on the board.
Holley gave good minutes on Thursday, yet didn't play today. He's always good for a three and some hustle plays.
This team is fatally one-dimensional on offense. If Shabazz or Forrest is off from 3, then it's trouble.

There are a lot of reasons for why you can blame Fox for today's loss. But not calling a timeout is not one of them. On GaSo's last possession, their attacker hit the deck. We grabbed the board and had numbers. BOTH of our best scorers got great looks to win that game, just neither fell. I blame Fox for the stagnant/straight terrible offense the last 14 minutes of that game, but he was right to let those final 8 seconds to play out./\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 13, 2018 11:09 pmSimilar situation at JMU.T-Dog wrote: ↑Sat Jan 13, 2018 9:51 pmI was less than impressed with Fox's coaching today. It seems in those situations though our final effort is always a 3 point attempt and when you consider how poorly we shot it yesterday that was not likely going to get it done.
The one constant with Fox teams is their inconsistent play from game to game.

A coach is truly measured by their record in close games.
4-5 in games decided by 6 or less with some real heartbreakers in there.

I remember Houston Fancher getting us to the NIT and Buzz getting us to the CIT. So much fun to watch. Seems like we have better players, but when was the last time we had a winning record? I'm crazy enough to believe that we can have a good b-ball! What's the problem here?

Disappointing. Very disappointing. Few bright spots so far this season. Again.

Why did he not drive to the basket with three seconds?
This is my very generic signature added to each post.

That is why most folks see this as a coaching issue. Jacking a 25 foot 3 in that situation makes ZERO sense.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2018 12:04 pmWhy did he not drive to the basket with three seconds?

I’ve got no issue with the decision to take a 3. It was a clean, open look, something he likely wouldn’t have had inside.

He took the easy , undisciplined way out. Drive and he likely draws a foul and a much higher percentage shot. It's the same play that failed on other occasions this year, that's my concern .We don't learn , we don't get better. Let's face it we have no reason at this point to expect better. We will continue to jack threes and hope for the best. This is unacceptable especially when you look at the women. Slammed by adversity but climbing nonetheless.

Because today's basketball player sees no glory in the easy shot. It's more spectacular to hit the 3. Watch almost any end of game situation these days, and they will settle for the three 90% of the time.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2018 12:04 pmWhy did he not drive to the basket with three seconds?

The decision to allow GaSo to play it out with 38 seconds left was also questionable. Got lucky that for some insane reason, Tookie didn't take the shot.

Have you seen the officiating at our level? He’s not getting a foul call. Forest got fouled bring the ball up in the back court and it wasn’t called. There is a lot of things to complain about but our 2nd best shooter taking a wide open 3 with 3 sec. left is not one of them. He was also on the right side of the floor he’s a lefty that can’t use in right in traffic and you want him to drive with 3 sec left into traffic and try and finish with contact? Which very few at our level can truly finish with contact.... okay

Have you not been crying Shabazz can't hit a fee throw? Better to have him try an open three he can hit.

Unfortunately in our last three losses he's 3-17 from three. He's 11-18 from the line in that same span.
