Re: Clemson 2024
I would have loved to have a home and home...even a two for one but love that we a scheduling the one of the top programs in the country. We have to kept paying these games if we hope to improve our brand.
I really like that this is a drivable game. I will be there!

Re: Clemson 2024
***educated guess****
Just doing a quick scan of the '19 schedule and we have 3 OOC games confirmed. (H: ETSU & UNCc, A: UNC). Which means we need a "money game". Looking at the P5s who need a game and would be willing to play a strong G5, the ones that make the most sense are: Alabama, Florida, South Carolina and Florida State. There are other lesser P5s who don't have a full schedule, but those are more likely to be H&H targets. These 4 each need a game, they've got a big enough budget to pay $1M+, and/or our fans would travel well too.
I'd prefer either Alabama or South Carolina.

Re: Clemson 2024
For 2019 I think you're more likely to see a H&H with a G5, away in 2019 and home in 2020
Based upon schedules I'd call UCF and UAB, in that order.

Re: Clemson 2024
UCF I get but why UAB? An away game at UAB in 2019 will give us three games in Alabama that year. No real benefit for exposure to recruits.

Re: Clemson 2024
There aren't many G5 programs that need a home game in 2019 and have an opening for an away game in 2020. There just aren't many options remaining.

Re: Clemson 2024
Makes sense. UAB doesn’t move the needle for me though. We already have two conference foes and bowl games in Alabama, so anything outside a money game with Alabama and Auburn are meh. But to your point, we have to work with what we have in front of us.

Re: Clemson 2024
I'll take any G5 home and home over a second money game in the same year or FCS game at home in 2020 (paired with UMass, yikes).
I'm not a fan of playing two P5 games on the road in one year.

Re: Clemson 2024
As a general rule, I agree with you. But in this instance, we aren’t losing a home game as we will still have 6. As long as the situation is a one off then I can live with it. Remember, we have some remodeling to pay for.

Re: Clemson 2024
In 2019 we don’t have a money game. The UNC series is a H&H and the last game is the money game. I don’t know the specifics on the finances, but am assuming we don’t get payments for money games multiple years in advance. For that reason, I think we have to find a money game for 2019.

I thought 2019 was the guarantee game. If not it's a bad deal. You want the money game first in a series like that.Boone Goon wrote: ↑Mon Feb 05, 2018 2:16 pmIn 2019 we don’t have a money game. As for we need the money for renovations, I put that on the fanbase not on $ games vs. the P5.

According to the WSJ article the second game is the money game.

Re: Clemson 2024
Same here. I always want more home games in a season than road games no matter who we have to pass up. One road money game a year is enough. The PTB when bowl invites come out don't put enough consideration on who you lost to and where to suit me.

Re: Clemson 2024
I prefer not to look at how old I will be, but how young I will feel when I cheer on my Mountaineers for any future date. I've been blessed to take my son to just about every home game and a handful of big P5 away games for the last 8 years (and now my daughter). App State Saturday road trips are a staple on my house. 2024 will be no different..... Gametime-Cheering-Wings-Beer-Sleep- repeat
