The decision has been made to relocate the track. It will be taken care of soon enough.

I'm going to wait until about a year after the track is removed and then start a thread called "I miss the track"

 Glad you said it. I've only said it a half dozen...maybe a dozen times in the last year but it didn't take for most I guess. Maybe you'll have better luck.

I can also confirm it was said last month at a Yosef gathering. Track is going to be relocated and they will have their well-deserved facility.

I talked to DG for 15 minutes a few months ago at an event in Charlotte. The track removal was most of what we talked about. He’s one of the only App people I’ve talked to whose scorn for the track matches my own. It’s a done deal pre-fall 2019.

All that said, I’ll still click thumbs up to anyone who bitches about the track.

I want to participate in its removal. I’ll sign a waiver and donate and extra $100 to the YC for 30 seconds with a jack hammer. I want to keep a piece to commemorate its destruction. It’s the Berlin Wall.

Will this lead to locking the football field gates regularly? Part of the rationale now is access to the track for students/faculty and really the public for exercise. Track gone = no more access to throw ball around with the kids? I realize App was very unique in this regard but did enjoy it as a kid and now with mine.

I doubt the gates will be locked. Classes use the field regularly for games and many different sports use it for S&C before sunrise.

I too can confirm the removal of the track. Moose said as much about a year ago on a public message board...

What will they do if anything with the large gap between the field and the hill? Should I start another thread?

I played intramural softball on that track and football field in 71 and 72. Great times! GO APPS!

100% track is gone ladies and gents! That rendering sucks not really what its going to be. It won't be that much different than the original project. The original project had dorms included this has no dorms. It will be a CM @ risk job thats how GC will be selected. They will help design and price with architect CJMW who was architect on last one. Keys things to look for will be concourse!!!! Huge and biggest must in my opinion. I'll be at the pre bid for it coming up and will siphon info as I obtain it. This will be a good project. Shelco did the last facility upgrade. They did a fine job I'm sure they will be in the running and I would imagine Vannoy will be reaching for it since it is in their backyard.

My wish would be to keep the hill but move it close to the field, while keeping in mind that it may be needed for future seating expansion later. This could create a large plaza area behind the hill which could include things like a kids play area, expanded restroom facilities, large "Yosef's locker room" plus other fan experience type amenities that could help the gameday experience.

This is exactly what needs to be done and many of us have noted this. All we need is dirt to move the hill closer with a nice flat space on top.

I agree. Make it less steep by reducing the grade and bring closer to the field. I can picture it in my mind
