I'd love that location and matchup. I hate that'd we'd have to have a very disappointing regular season to end up there.

Uh...the Stink is going bowling? That might just be might first *legal* sports bet.
On another point, this type of reporting on G5 football reporting is irresponsible. Obviously the person assembling that list didn't research the Stink at all. They saw the name and remembered they were good at some point so they expect them to be good this year. They probably did the same thing with us on this list but how does an editor get away with agreeing that an 2-10 team is bowl worthy? This lack of research is rampant across all major sports outlets in regards to G5 football reporting.

A 2-10 team that retained its internally-hired interim HC as a permanent HC.

They only need to pick up 4 wins to be bowl eligible. That's not out of the question.

GS gets SC State, UMass, and NMSU in OOC. UMass will be tough, but NMSU lost their QB and RB.

Re: Sporting News early Bowl picks
After going over 2017 predictions, I found that sporting news nailed exactly one bowl, the fiesta bowl with both teams. They only were right with one team per bowl guess 9 times...Alabama being guessed correctly twice. So, out of 80 teams...10/80 at least one team....out of 40 games 1 for 40 both teams. They also picked gsu for a bowl last year...so this is pretty much pin the tail on the donkey by a jackass!

Re: Sporting News early Bowl picks
I thought that at first too, but State loses a lot on both sides of the ball. Bill Connelly, who does about as fair a deep dive as anyone who looks at all 130 teams, predicts State will take a step backwards in 2018, though his longer term outlook is positive. He puts GaSo above GaSt in his S&P+ rankings. Then again, I think in another article he puts GaSo above GaSt in the SBC, and South Alabama above both.
In any case, I have a suspicion that the author of this piece is cribbing from the S&P+ rankings.

Bowl predictions are such a waste of time and ink. So are writers who are lazy and don’t do their homework
