RIP: Anne Donovan
Anne Donovan passed away today from heart failure. She was a force in women's basketball and sports at Old Dominion, winning a NC in the old AIAW. http://start.att.net/news/read/article/ ... ory/sports
We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

Re: RIP: Anne Donovan
Anne Donovan had an extremely close High Country "connection" up until about a year ago. Former Mountaineer forward, 6-8 Kevin Donovan, is Anne's brother. Kevin transferred to App as a junior from Brandywine JC (PA) in the early 70s and started on the front line for Coach Press Maravich for two years. Once his eligibility and degree were complete, the IA major turned to his other major skill and secured a job as a master carpenter in The High Country. Within a few years, Kevin had gotten married and had formed his own company--designing and building custom homes. Kevin and his wife, Ginnie (Virginia), had a daughter Katy who stood 6-7 or 6-8 as a prep girls player at Watauga. Katy's Aunt Anne was a frequent visitor to her niece's games at Watauga.scatman77 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 13, 2018 10:24 pmAnne Donovan passed away today from heart failure. May God grant peace to Anne Donovan's family and friends. RIP, Anne.
A year or so ago, Kevin and Ginnie Donovan moved to the Wilmington-Wrightsville Beach area to build a coastal real estate and development business.
If it happens to the Apps, it happens to me!

Re: RIP: Anne Donovan
I remember Kevin. He was a unique individual with a heart of gold. As for sister Anne she along with Nancy Lieberman put women's basketball on the map long before the NCAA got involved. I remember our lady Apps playing AIAW with Judy Clark as coach. One of those gals was Jane Albright who coached at Wichita State, Wisconsin, and later at Nevada where she recently retired. I think Carol Almond is still in the high country as a tennis coach.asu66 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 14, 2018 10:44 amAnne Donovan had an extremely close High Country "connection" up until about a year ago.
