Rescheduling Hypotheticals
Now that the Southern Miss game has been officially cancelled, let the inevitable hypothetical rescheduling options be discussed!
I'll start with Clemson at The Rock on October 13 . . . both teams have this weekend cancelled . . .

Re: Rescheduling Hypotheticals
Play Clemson 4 days after Arkansas State? Not likely!
I think the most likely option was the one mentioned earlier. Play Southern Miss on 10/6 (both are open) and push the Arkansas State game to Saturday 10/13 instead of Tuesday 10/9. Of course this would require the cooperation of both Ark St and ESPN (I assume).

Re: Rescheduling Hypotheticals
As mentioned earlier Southern Miss has a bye on 10/6. Play Southern Miss on 10/6 - Move the Arkansas State game to 10/13. I think ESPN would allow this; however, Arkansas St may not be willing to give up an espn2 game.
Other than the above, I think we're playing an 11 game regular season.

I would be traveling in from Columbia, SC and glad they made this decision. It appears the weather may be decent but getting to Boone may be a different story.

I think the concern was the potential loss of security and support personal who might be sent East to cover Florence. Maybe travel concerns for USM and their entourage too.

At this point, I hope that is what happens, moving to 10/6 and rescheduling Ark State.97APP wrote: ↑Wed Sep 12, 2018 12:54 pmAs mentioned earlier Southern Miss has a bye on 10/6. Re: Rescheduling Hypotheticals
If stAte/ESPN agree to move the 10/9 game and the USM game gets rescheduled for 10/6, stAte will have 2 weeks to prepare for App. USM would end up with 3 away games in a row 9/29 @ Auburn, 10/6 @ App and 10/13 @ NT. That's a pretty brutal stretch for the Golden Eagles if this comes to pass.
Wonder if we could get all parties involved to agree with a 10/4 (USM @ App) and 10/11 (App @ stAte) Thursday night ESPN(2/U) televised games. I know that doesn't help USM to play at Auburn and turn around on a short week and play at App but it does give them a couple of days to rest up before their next conference match-up against NT. It would probably also appease Mohajir and the Red Wolf fan base as they get to keep an ESPN televised home game. The trick is convincing the App faculty, students and staff to moving their vehicles for a Thursday night match up.

I'm not holding my breath. Not sure the conference would want to lose a nationally televised game.sixtoes9134 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 12, 2018 12:57 pmAt this point, I hope that is what happens, moving to 10/6 and rescheduling Ark State.97APP wrote: ↑Wed Sep 12, 2018 12:54 pmAs mentioned earlier Southern Miss has a bye on 10/6. Re: Rescheduling Hypotheticals
Beating Ark State is way more important than playing Southern Miss..so let's not stack the deck against ourselves.

Re: Rescheduling Hypotheticals
I'm not upset over the cancellation. It's another BYE, I guess. The only part that sucks is that our team is rolling right now. We hopefully shouldn't need this likely win for bowl eligibility.
I'd hate to think the type of negative publicity we'd receive if God forbid something does happen and we were the only FBS team in the Carolinas not to re-schedule (UNCC doesn't count). It's also a good prececdence to set if App St. ever finds themselves traveling into the potential path of a natural disaster.
What's Western doing this weekend?

Re: Rescheduling Hypotheticals
If all parties can't come to an agreement about rescheduling this year, maybe Gillin can get USM to agree to opening day (9/2) in 2023. IMO, that would be a hell of an OOC schedule: v USM (CUSA), @ UNC (ACC), v ECU (AAC) & @ WYO (MWC).

Re: Rescheduling Hypotheticals
I just do not see us making all of these logistical changes to accommodate an out of conference game. I hate losing any opportunity to watch the boys whoop some CUSA arse, but under the circumstances, it is what it is.

Oooo, I like the look of that. This could be a good platform for an NY6 bid.

Re: Rescheduling Hypotheticals
I think Arky St would prefer a weekend game versus a Tuesday night.97APP wrote: ↑Wed Sep 12, 2018 12:54 pmAs mentioned earlier Southern Miss has a bye on 10/6. IDK about Western, but Wake is still playing BC Thursday. They just moved up the kickoff a couple of hours.falcoapp wrote: ↑Wed Sep 12, 2018 1:14 pmI'm not upset over the cancellation. Re: Rescheduling Hypotheticals
I agree and I'd say that guarantees 2 early season sell outs at KBS. I know it won't always work out but this is my scheduling preference for App's program (no FCS game).appstatealum wrote: ↑Wed Sep 12, 2018 1:24 pmOooo, I like the look of that. This could be a good platform for an NY6 bid.
I know this won't be popular but I'd be ok with only 5 home games to avoid scheduling a FCS team if at least 2 of the 3 away OOC games came against nearby FBS programs. For example, in 2025 if App played home against USCar, @ WFU, @ UNCC and @ UCF.
