Cancellations are about police, firefighters, and first responders moving east. Also the school doesn't want fans traveling to games in inclement weather.

Re: Rescheduling Hypotheticals
Assuming the game will never be made up or played, how does Southern Miss compensate APP and how much? If we have to make refunds, no concessions, etc could lose up to 1 million.

Geez. You are soooo outdated. I haven't used "Cline" in over 4 or 5 years. Try to keep up.

NC State is open 10/13. App could move Ark St to previous Sat., open 10/13. They’d probably be afraid.

Re: Rescheduling Hypotheticals
Unfortunately, we would be 3rd, at best, in terms of making a call on the Ark St game. I feel fairly certain the host and ESPN would have first say, maybe in reverse order, in any changes involving that jacked-up Tuesday night game.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Wed Sep 12, 2018 9:59 pmNC State is open 10/13. Re: Rescheduling Hypotheticals
I doubt the game is rescheduled for October, perhaps for December if neither makes their conference championship game.

“If we have to make refunds”
I hope we don’t start down the road of 40 whiner fans. A lot them were crying about refunds and their team is actually getting to play.

Re: Rescheduling Hypotheticals
The more I look at it, it's probably either going to come down to
1. Getting stAte to agree to move back their game from Tuesday to Saturday which would let us play Southern Miss on 10/6 since they have a bye week between Auburn and North Texas.
2. Schedule it for December, contingent that neither of us make the CUSA or SBC Championship Game
3. Revisit #1 but book a different team.
4. Go for 11-1 regular season.

Re: Rescheduling Hypotheticals
Those are the options but I don't think it's a good idea to give up those extra days getting ready for and travelling to Ark State, so I'd not be in favor of playing a game on 10/6. If we win our division and beat Ark State we're probably hosting the SBC championship in Boone, if we sweep our division and beat Ark State, then we're almost definitely hosting the championship game, unless there's a surprise team in the SBC West. So I'd go with door #2 or settle for an 11 game regular season.hotrod2001 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 13, 2018 9:31 amThe more I look at it, it's probably either going to come down to

Ironic/You Can't Flee From Fate Hypothesis: The game is not rescheduled and the season is played out and we are selected for a bowl. At the same time Southern Miss does well and is selected for a bowl too. And, the powers that be match us together in the same bowl game.

I'm game with that. Give us the New Orleans Bowl where you have a SBC/CUSA matchup and boom...the story writes itself.WataugaMan wrote: ↑Thu Sep 13, 2018 10:15 amIronic/You Can't Flee From Fate Hypothesis: The game is not rescheduled and the season is played out and we are selected for a bowl. Re: Rescheduling Hypotheticals
There is pretty clear evidence the game won't happen. App and SunBelt sites list as postponed, but Southern Miss has cancelled. I don't see them wanting to come to Boone in December unless they are 5-6 and believe it can get them bowl eligible...and App would have to be excluded from conference championship game to be available. Three home games in November/December including Thanksgiving probably wouldn't help the local economy much with Southern Miss make up game. A conference championship game would move the needle and draw a lot more (not a full house) up the mountain.

Re: Rescheduling Hypotheticals
I agree! Replace a future FCS team with S. Miss. Strengthen our future schedule to keep us moving forward. At this point in our Div. 1 growth, we don't need an FBS team. I feel its best to focus on our strength of schedule.

Re: Rescheduling Hypotheticals
Since we are all throwing out "easier said than done" scenarios. Here is what we should do.
Step 1. Tell ESPN to stick their early week, no attendance game in their back pocket.
Step 2. Tell Arky St. that we are playing on a weekend and to stand by the phone.
Step 3. Call So Miss and tell them to spit or get off the pot. Come to Boone on Oct. 6th so we can kick your a$$.
Step 4. If So Miss agrees, then call Arky St and tell them we are coming on the 13th and leave the light on. If So Miss does not agree, call Arky St and tell them that we will see them on the 6th.
Step 5. If So Miss will not oblige to the delayed a$$-kicking, and we move our Arky St game to the 6th. That allows us to go to step 6.
Step 6th. Call the boys down in Raleigh and tell them that we will see them on the 13th. (I know that we lose a home game, but it is a drivable away game and seeing the Mountaineers play is always a good thing.
