Re: Troy v Nebraska
I hope they win out and then we blast them to end the season. A Troy team on the brink of/being ranked helps us out, assuming we win. Strength of schedule!

Good job, Troy. Now I'll pull for Arkansas State in a while over at Tulsa. I hope the SB gets stronger and stronger. Who wants to win the title in a weak conference?

Re: Troy v Nebraska
Even with the Sun Belt besting most fans' expectations so far this season, somehow the RPI has the Sun Belt rated below CUSA even though the Sun Belt has posted a higher winning percentage and SOS to date.
9 CUSA (14) ALL 19-20 (49%) NON-CONF 17-18 (49%) INDEX 26.25 SOS 48.32 SOS RANK 16
10 Sun Belt (11) ALL 15-14 (52%) NON-CONF 14-13 (52%) INDEX 26.01 SOS 50.59 SOS RANK 8
Appears their data is incorrect as the Sun Belt only has 10 teams and not 11 but I'm unsure if this would change the rankings. For comparison sake, below is the AAC:
6 AAC (12) ALL 20-15 (57%) NON-CONF 18-13 (58%) INDEX 30.72 SOS 53.16 SOS RANK 5

They've still got Idaho in the Sun Belt.moonshine wrote: ↑Mon Sep 17, 2018 9:57 amEven with the Sun Belt besting most fans' expectations so far this season, somehow the RPI has the Sun Belt rated below CUSA even though the Sun Belt has posted a higher winning percentage and SOS to date.

Good for App in that Neil Brown wins the big games (say what you want about quality of opponent, Scott Satterfield doesn't). He'll have the hotter name in the off season carousel.

Bad in that Tory can close on big games, even when it's a crappy version of Nebraska.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 17, 2018 3:58 pmWhy is this bad for App?GregPercussion wrote: ↑Mon Sep 17, 2018 8:56 amGood for Trory

Good in that the head coach there will be sought after more over Satt. But still doesn't mean good things for app, besides Satt sticking around.

Re: Troy v Nebraska
I think that what’s good for the Sun Belt is good for App. I want a competitive conference. I’m not afraid of Troy. Nebraska is rebuilding and that was a sloppy game. I am happy for them, though. I want all of our competitors to win every game they play except for the one they play against us.
...... with the exception of GaSo. They can continue to suck for a couple more years and I’ll be okay with it.

If we arent afraid of PSU we sure as hell arent afraid of Troy....respect sure but afraid? Our team will only get better as the youngsters mature.appchicago wrote: ↑Tue Sep 18, 2018 7:46 amI think that what’s good for the Sun Belt is good for App. I want a competitive conference. We'll deal with Troy in November. Too many games to win before they come to Boone.

Re: Troy v Nebraska
Troy beat a crappy Nebraska team that has lost 8 of their last 9 games, they started a walk on Freshman and still out scored Troy without the punt return. These aren’t sour grapes but Nebraska is a dumpster fire at the moment and that win is unimpressive.GregPercussion wrote: ↑Tue Sep 18, 2018 7:41 amBad in that Tory can close on big games, even when it's a crappy version of Nebraska.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 17, 2018 3:58 pmWhy is this bad for App?GregPercussion wrote: ↑Mon Sep 17, 2018 8:56 amGood for Trory

To the point above, there is a lot of football to be played before Thanksgiving weekend. The two teams may be different by the time we play. But looking at it right now, Penn St is far and away the best team that we will play and if we approach each game as we have thus far, we will be hard to beat.

Re: Troy v Nebraska
How bad is the Wake loss last year now? Troy beat what ultimately was a 9-4 LSU team at their place. They beat what is hopefully a bad Nebraska team at their place. Say what you want. They got it done.

Re: Troy v Nebraska
That's what I've been preaching recently. Tennessee, Wake, & Penn State were all great because we "really took'em to wire" and it was great for our program. But Troy has been able to close the deal and get that W over a P5 where we haven't. That's our next goal.

Re: Troy v Nebraska
Nebraska might not win a single game this year. Coach would go undefeated one year and without a single win the next.
Big win for Troy in name only so far.
