Sunbelt is SOLID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unread post by spacemonkey » Sat Sep 15, 2018 7:45 pm

I was feeling very confident about the App State football season, but the SUNBELT is for real. All of these teams look solid. The hurricane is allowing me to do something I usually don't get to see.....other Sunbelt football games. Troy, Ark St. and UL Monroe look solid.

ULM being down 21 at half doesn’t look good.

We would know more if we had played So Miss.

Definitely better than C-USA or MAC. If you subtracted Boise State I might even say MWC too. AAC is still a half step up though.

Yes La is taking quiet the beating. I had to switch it from that game.

Agree the Sun Belt is improving. But nobody other than Troy really did anything of note today. stAte beat an AAC team that went 2-10 last year, and everyone else lost by 30+.

SA came back and beat TXSt. In the battle for the bottom. Well GaSt may be in that competition as well.

If we win out, maybe we can claim to be the top team in the G3

With Boise losing big and Penn State crushing their last two opponents, I wonder if we still have a shot at the access bowl? Need FAU to take out UCF and many other upsets to happen.

We would probably need to win pretty easily against everyone, including Troy and Ark St.

Key (aside from us running the table, obviously) is upsets in the conference title games. UCF can go 11-0, but if they lose to, say a 3-loss team in the AAC title game, they're out. We'd probably need a couple of those to have a shot.

Of course if FAU did beat UCF, then we'd need to hope for FAU to lose another game somewhere, otherwise that win plus the Kiffin hype would probably put them ahead of us in the pecking order.

I think being in the Sun Belt hurts us here. I think the committee is slightly biased on the AAC in terms of getting a NY6 game. The only way we get a look is if we beat stAte and Troy and beat them hard, then go onto the conference championship game and put on a clinic, otherwise all the eyes will be looking at UCF, USF and Memphis.

Which is one thing why I'm always hoping we eventually get an AAC bid one day. That's the conference which gets noticed.

SBC is 14-12 in OOC play. Next week is huge:

UNLV @ Ark st
WMU @ GA St
Tex St @ UTSA

Win those and then take care of NMSU on remaining schedules and SBC finishes 2-3 game above .500.

Much improved as a Conference. Gotta take 'em one at a time and bring our "A" game every week.

Sunbelt is possibly THE best Group of 5 conference in football, if not 2nd. It would be awesome to watch App vs. UCF & Troy vs. Boise State. We're definitely not last *cough cough C-USA

I don't believe Troy wants Boise again this year after the beat down they took in week 1.
