3rd Youngest?
I apologize for my old brain, but somewhere I read that we were the 3rd youngest team in college football. Is that in G5 or overall, including P5?

Re: 3rd Youngest?
I believe that's in all of the FBS, so G5 + P5.Appsolutely wrote: ↑Mon Sep 24, 2018 12:26 pmI apologize for my old brain, but somewhere I read that we were the 3rd youngest team in college football. Is that in G5 or overall, including P5?

Re: 3rd Youngest?
From the "Game Notes" on the football page of Appstatesports.com:
With just 12 seniors on a roster that’s 75.2 percent underclassmen (the nation’s third-highest
percentage after Illinois’ 76.5 and Coastal Carolina’s 76.0), App State is using the #10Strong
mantra to represent 10 position groups coming together for the good of the team. This spring,
Scott Satterfield and assistant A.D. of athletic performance Mike Sirignano formed a panel
with one upperclassman from all 10 assigned position groups and had weekly discussions about
Jon Gordon’s “The Energy Bus: 10 Rules to Fuel Your Life, Work, and Team with Positive Energy.

Re: 3rd Youngest?
We have a lot of third- and even fourth-teammers who will contribute this season, and I'm not dismissing their contributions, but I consider a two-deep as a more accurate barometer of experience.
Our two-deep from Saturday:
Graduate student: 1
Seniors: 10
Juniors: 13
Sophomores: 29
Freshmen: 15

Re: 3rd Youngest?
No disrespect whatsoever to any of these young men but in terms of significant roster hits after this season I see:
2 defensive secondary (Hayes and Exford)- should not hurt much
1 running back (Moore) - hurts some but depth is incredible
O Line ( Greer and Campbell)- depth should make this a non factor
Receivers- no loss
Linebacker- Flory. Hopefully next man up will be close to as good. Tough loss
D line- only Godwin. Lots of depth
Unless something crazy happens 2019 could be unreal

Re: 3rd Youngest?
I’d add Stout at NT and Heath at WR as well. I think Stout will be a big loss...bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Mon Sep 24, 2018 12:59 pmNo disrespect whatsoever to any of these young men but in terms of significant roster hits after this season I see:

Re: 3rd Youngest?
Forgot those two. Stout definitely but Heath? Not so much considering the depth. Great having him the one year. No idea what we have in potential red shirtsJohnnyBurrito wrote: ↑Mon Sep 24, 2018 1:20 pmI’d add Stout at NT and Heath at WR as well. Re: 3rd Youngest?
Same here. I'm expecting big things from Jordon Earle next year though. 6' 2", 305 pounds. Former all-state wrestler. Reminds me a little of Tyson Fernandez from a few years back.

Chris, this is way off the subject of your post but it sure is good to see your alias back in action. Hope you're doing well. I've been worried that something was going on with your health. This aging process is better than any of the alternatives that I'm familiar with but geez...Appsolutely wrote: ↑Mon Sep 24, 2018 12:26 pmI apologize for my old brain, but somewhere I read that we were the 3rd youngest team in college football. Thanks, Chuck...when the Apps look this good, I tend to forget my age and my aches and pains. Satterfield has built a juggernaut!asu66 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 24, 2018 7:24 pmChris, this is way off the subject of your post but it sure is good to see your alias back in action. Hope you're doing well.
