Re: Satterfield's contract extended!!!
Contract is just bargaining tool to negotiate with others. Contracts made to be broken and used for negotiations.
Re: Satterfield's contract extended!!!
There is NO WAY Satterfield will EVER have a bad year at App. I stand by this statement as much as I stand by my name. And my name means everything to me.NewApp wrote: ↑Fri Sep 21, 2018 4:55 pmThat could be risky for us. Suppose in year 5 or 6 of a 10 year contract, he has a few bad seasons. We would be stuck with him for the remainder of the 10 year contract and possibly have to pay him for the years after we release him as well as paying the new coach his salary and benefits..ComebackShack wrote: ↑Fri Sep 21, 2018 2:45 pmWhy not give him a 5-10 year extension? That way the buyout will be huge.

Satt talks about his contact https://www.journalnow.com/sports/asu/a ... bbcce.html
Has anyone seen the new contract yet? Very interested to compare it to the last one.

Yes, your name is interesting as Hubris has led to the downfall of many men...and teams. A weakness not seen by many when they possess it.Mr Hubris wrote: ↑Fri Sep 21, 2018 6:59 pmThere is NO WAY Satterfield will EVER have a bad year at App. I stand by this statement as much as I stand by my name. Whole thing is good for University if hiring university had to pay off contact. Give us a up on hiring replacement.

Not so many years ago, it didn't take long for the wheels to get wobbly on the AppalCartNewApp wrote: ↑Fri Sep 21, 2018 5:30 pmIt can happen to the best of programs. Look at Nebraska.bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Fri Sep 21, 2018 5:04 pmAssuming we stay in the Belt the wheels would absolutely have to fall off for our program to tank. Re: Satterfield's contract extended!!!
This extension also gets them through to the years that their kids will be graduating high school. I think that is very smart, taking care of family, and gives him options at a better time in his life/career. I am very pleased that he gets the well-deserved extension benefits and we keep his longer as head coach. Also, hopefully we won't see any more dang threads that he may go to UNC anytime soon on here.

Need to read this article. My read. Scott will take an offer but he is selective.

Re: Satterfield's contract extended!!!
If Satterfield takes another job, the buyout would be "liquidated damages in lieu of any and all other legal remedies or equitable relief in an amount equal to coach's current contract year base salary," which would equal $425,000. The payment would be due 30 days after the termination.

There's some good stuff in that contact and hopefully enough to keep him around for a few more years for sure.

It's chump change to any P5 school who would offer him. He's gone soon, folks. I just hope the Holes hire some other poor bastard before Satt gets the call.

Re: Satterfield's contract extended!!!
Gonzo all over it.
I posted the buy-out info to show how inexpensive it would to get him out of the contract. Sure there is enough financial incentive for him to stay but if a challenge presents itself and he gets a 5-year $14.0 million deal how do you walk away from that?

His high school-aged kids will forgive him for making them move when they park their brand new porches at Chapel Hill High School.

Re: Satterfield's contract extended!!!
According to the USA Today article that came out, I believe yesterday, Satt is currently the number 95 paid coach out of about 130 or so. The number they showed appeared a good bit higher than what was reflected in the WD and WS Journal articles. Agree, can’t blame the man if he gets life changing money offers.

Re: Satterfield's contract extended!!!
Satt is surely gone when the right opportunity presents itself. It may be my disdain for Carolina Football, but I get the feeling that he would not want to insert himself into that mess, P5 or not. Short term, if he takes us to a consistent top 25 ranking (which does not seem too far off), he may get a larger selection of jobs versus a tire fire like Carolina. I hope he sticks around until we get ourselves in that Boise, UCF, Houston category....

Most schools have larger buyouts and they decrease with years remaining.

Re: Satterfield's contract extended!!!
FYI, the buyout is the same as his previous contract.
This, for the most part, is purely an extension.
