Re: Satterfield's contract extended!!!
What this contract extension does is give him piece of mind through the contract period. He can now sit back and "cherry pick" his opportunities. I would think it would help with recruiting to have his term extended and who knows what happens down the road. The "low" buyout is reasonable given his salary and bonus levels in my opinion.

Thanks TDog for info. Yea, I thought Apps would give him a raise too. Overall I’m surprised the Apos can pay this amount..... but disappointed that we didn’t give him an increase.

Re: Satterfield's contract extended!!!
Is there a reason DG did not increase the buyout on Satt's contract or a reason Satt wouldn't agree to a larger buyout?
I'm not a contract guru but it seems like an increased buyout, say double to $850k with a de-escalating tiered structure similar to Fedora's, would not be skin off of either party's back. The only entity that would be effected is the 3rd party who is trying to hire Satt while he's still under contract and $850k (or less) is couch change to these A5 programs.

I'm hearing rumblings for UNC. God I hope Satt really thinks this one through. He is not one of them and I think the next coach that is not a big name is going to be on a short leash. He would not be a unanimous choice and you don't won't to start off in the hole like that.

I think that's mostly due to how poorly the Holes have started the season and it's a worst case scenario for a lot of us.Longrifle28 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 04, 2018 10:52 amI'm hearing rumblings for UNC. IIRC Fedora's due $14M if he gets canned after this season. I don't see that happening no matter how bad they are.

Re: Satterfield's contract extended!!!
$14M this year/$10M next year. Satterfield has also said he wants to be at a school that appreciates and is 100% behind the football team, and UNC is not there and as long as Roy is there I doubt their football program will ever be anything more than a far distant 2nd place, maybe even 3-4 given UNC women's soccer and men's baseball teams track record of performing extremely well

Personally, I think UNC-Cheat has wayyyyyyy too much ego to go slumming at lil' ol' App for their next head coach.
If they ditch Fedora, I look for them to throw a wad of cash at Lane Kiffin. He's a bigger name and they wouldn't have to lower themselves to take an App guy.

Re: Satterfield's contract extended!!!
Ive talked to a friend who has ties to the Ram's Club. He told me their boosters are so mad with their program right now, and ready to dump Fedora that they are going to pay his buyout after the season.
Satt is #1 on their list unfortunately, and I'm told its all but a done deal. The Mountaineer in me doesn't want to believe it and with the timing of the extension, I'm not sure i do but... that's the word from the Ram's Club, for what its worth.

Re: Satterfield's contract extended!!!
I’ve heard UNC wants the North Texas guy. And the buyout for Fedora is $14M after this season. If they fire him now it’s like $18-$20M

Well, if there is one thing that could derail a great season this might be it.

I doubt there's a done deal. I seriously doubt DG would give permission for Satterfield to talk to UNC 4 games into the season.

I talked with a Rams club member and she had heard nothing about Satterfield deal

Jerry was thrown a lifeline, took advantage of it, and decided at that stage in life this was it. Scott has never failed and would relish the challenge. They are at two entirely decision points.

Re: Satterfield's contract extended!!!
The one thing that would make me question any UNC-CH rumor is that Satt specifically said he would want a program that is 100% behind its Football program. UNC-CH is not that program and never will be. They would like a winning football team but, Basketball is the end-all be-all at that school and they will never make a football decision that could potentially have a negative affect on the basketball program. Of course you throw $2-3 million at anyone in his position and things can change. That's generational money there, his grandchildren could be taken care of off one 5 yr contract. I'd love for him to stay but would understand if(when?) he leaves.
Right now all we can do is enjoy the ride and appreciate what he's done so far.

Don't think UNC has too much ego to hire App Coach. It has happened before. Mack Brown left us for them before going to Texas stint.

Re: Satterfield's contract extended!!!
UNC spends a bunch of money on football. The school is behind it...the fans are not. Scott could/reenergize that program which is capable of being a perennial top 20 program.97APP wrote: ↑Fri Oct 05, 2018 8:34 amThe one thing that would make me question any UNC-CH rumor is that Satt specifically said he would want a program that is 100% behind its Football program.
