Constant wrecking ball???? What are you talking about?

We got bigger from 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 off season.
We got faster 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 off season.
No doubt Glass knows his stuff as a Director....we need to find a S&C motivator "young guy" like Iron Mike to motivate, hold accountable and push players to excellence.

Re: Iron Mike gone
I see you are newer to the board, but I can verify what you are saying is true. I’ve heard Iron Mike would not have been around long had it not been for Satterfield. A lot of folks within the staff were wanting him gone for a variety of reasons. The kids did like him from the motivation aspect, but by no means was he critical to their success. Just another piece of the puzzle that will need and should be replaced.Yosef'sMountaineer wrote: ↑Fri Dec 07, 2018 1:05 amThe guy is a master self-marketer who knows what to say, when to say it, and to whom. The program was abysmal before he arrived , so I give him some credit plus we all knew he was leaving with Satt. The good news is , there are plenty of quality people in this field today.

Re: Iron Mike gone
I couldn't tell you whether Sirignano is great/good/just OK. He seemed to get players motivated and, from the outside, appeared to have a sound strength training program. We were in need of an overhaul when he arrived and are in much better shape now.
However, Strength coaches seem to be connected at the hip to their head coaches and this move shouldn't have surprised anyone, in fact it would probably say more if he were to have stayed (and not in a positive way). With the limited contact allowed between FB coaches and players in the off-season, the Strength Coach is the off-season point of contact for the FB Coach. I'm sure the new HC will want his own person in and if he doesn't have anyone in mind then Glass sure has the industry contacts to help bring in a good one.

Re: Iron Mike gone
I know I have not posted long but the wrecking ball comment is correct. Those left on staff are not crying about the loss. Mike did his job and definitely knew who to be good to. I agree that specifics not be answered in the open.appst89 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 07, 2018 8:40 amI would prefer that this question only be answered via PM.appgrad2010 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 07, 2018 8:31 amYosef'sMountaineer wrote: ↑Fri Dec 07, 2018 1:05 amThe guy is a master self-marketer who knows what to say, when to say it, and to whom. One hint for those who don't understand how good people are. Look at whether or not people under a director come and go, never to stick around. If people move on to promotions with a lot more money that is one thing but if you see folks basically taking the same job elsewhere and not sticking around more than 1-2 years then you know there is something wrong with the person in charge. People these days won't stay under a boss they dislike.
The best from S&C department remains in Anthony Glass. Glass is highly respected and knows his stuff. I'm 100% as confident in him as I am Gillin.
If we want to keep good people who remain and good ones who come in the future we have to pay them or hope they have already been paid and just want to be happy and have job security.

PM with the man. It is 100% true. Won't speak details but like I just posted when you are not sure on someone look and see if their assistants stay long or there is a revolving door under them. That is often a tell sign.App91 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 07, 2018 10:18 amThis x100Cro-Magnon App wrote: ↑Fri Dec 07, 2018 9:14 amI think a lot of people here don't know what they are talking about.

Re: Iron Mike gone
I really think that the entire staff is replaceable. Some guys are better than others but Brown is possibly the only "Can't Miss or Replicate" coach on the staff. App can do better and will likely do better now that Satterfield moving to the ACC has made this a job that would attract any number of people hoping to step into the limelight.

Re: Iron Mike gone
What makes Brown so special? The defense didn’t disappoint this year, but in all honesty, if the Geo Southern AD would have kept his mouth shut last year, we would be talking about him replacing Sloan who just left with our former coach for Louisville.ericsaid wrote: ↑Fri Dec 07, 2018 11:42 amI really think that the entire staff is replaceable. The new S&C coach hire will be 100% up to the new head coach. While he may listen to others input he will make the final call.
