Re: Coach Drink Staff Thread
For one season. His longest stint as DC has been 3 seasons. This might be the worst hire App has made in quite some time, period. You have a defensive unit that is respected accross all levels of College Football, not just the G5, and you hand the keys to a guy like Roof. The first season may be okay, but if he is the sole person calling shots when Ivey could've been retained to keep some continuity with the defense, this is garbage.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 27, 2018 3:51 pmRoof ran a 3-4 at Minnesota. Thought you might like to know that.asu7 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 27, 2018 1:53 pmGood afternoon!
First of all let me say that I truly appreciate all you have done for my university. You have been the best AD in our history. I have been nothing but impressed with the hires you have made. However, I do not see how Ted Roof fits our culture. To my knowledge he hasn’t even coached a 3-4 defense. Our defense was top notch this season and incredibly fun to watch. The defense is always my favorite part of the game and this year was amazing. I just don’t see how someone who was about to be fired at GaTech and who State fans are praying that he leaves will be a good fit for us.
Thanks again for all you have done! I am truly grateful and I am hoping these are just rumors and Roof is not our guy.
Thanks!

Are you saying you're going to decrease or discontinue your support for AppState sports if Roof is hired?ComebackShack wrote: ↑Thu Dec 27, 2018 4:27 pmShould we be emailing DG? Get ahead of the hire. Jeeze Louise! The Drama Queens are coming out from under every rock. We haven't "just pissed away" anything. Nobody has announced anything yet about a DC hire. Somebody throws out a name on this board and the hens start scrambling around like its a done deal. Let's turn this down a notch. We'll know soon enough!

Drink for every converted 3rd and long against the defense. Every 400 yard game given up. Every game where the defense gives up 30 points. Not good. Not good...at all.
Might as well Drink on the Roof.

The folks here think you shouldn’t email DG your thoughts. I think it’s a good idea. As for me I will still support our guys. Doesn’t mean this hire isn’t pissing me off.ComebackShack wrote: ↑Thu Dec 27, 2018 4:27 pmShould we be emailing DG? Get ahead of the hire. Until it’s confirmed, we can change things. Re: Coach Drink Staff Thread
Complaining and emailing Doug does absolutely no good in this situation. We all need to take a step back for a second and realize we do not want to turn into one of those fan bases that complains when we have a strong opinion about a hire. The truth of the matter is Coach Drink is the only person that knows what roof is capable of and why he chose to make him our defensive coordinator. This is Coach Drinks first head-coaching job and he’s not trying to screw this up. Drink obviously saw something in roof when they worked together that he liked and he obviously trusts him otherwise he wouldn’t have hired him. I think it also helps that roof has experience and can help drink through this period of his first head coaching job. We need to think about that for a second and understand that regardless of our feelings Coach drink believes in roof and we have to trust that decision

All of this craziness comes from a system that is rock solid silent, and taking WEEKS to end..... IT also tells you that the fans are knowledgeable and care ..... CHANGE is happening, and it’s happening fast, so I will wait and see what the Wizard of App can do ..... I am also praying real hard

Smoke does not mean fire. That being said, I can bring a truck that will pump 2000 gpm if y'all can supply the water.

Re: Coach Drink Staff Thread
Unless App State gets a Cam Newton type QB to bail Roof out, it is falling. App's defense has garnered respect from around the College Football world. The architect behind the current defense was hired by Georgia Tech. Georgia Tech's opening was made possible by the firing of the guy App is going to hire. A guy who runs a Tampa 2 which Lovie Smith has shown, is obsolete.

I don't disagree. This is the only type of thinking that has kept me somewhat grounded. Drink seems too smart to completely blow it. But, the info I'm getting of player(s) leaving becuae of this is a big deal....Appstate35 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 27, 2018 4:42 pmComplaining and emailing Doug does absolutely no good in this situation. No. I’d never discontinue my support or donations to App State. I’m saying we could Pony up for someone better. I’d donate today if it meant we could get a better DC.goapps93 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 27, 2018 4:32 pmAre you saying you're going to decrease or discontinue your support for AppState sports if Roof is hired?ComebackShack wrote: ↑Thu Dec 27, 2018 4:27 pmShould we be emailing DG?
