This is the smartest thing gonzo has ever said, and I endorse the Roof hire.

There is no more of a ringing endorsement for the Roof hire than UNCC fans thinking that gives them a leg up somehow.

So what is it that you don’t like about him? If UNC-H hired a DC with 31 years of coaching experience, 18 years as a DC, 15 of those at the P5 level and a National Title, would you not be salivating?

I said I liked the hire. Do they not teach reading comprehension at App?

This is huge, but not a surprise if Ted Roof is the actual DC. The only way the Roof hire makes sense is for the intangibles he can bring to support the staff. As I said on a previous post, my hope was that we kept Gasp and Roof acted more as a mentor--film room and game prep. All of the other hires are young up and coming guys, then you have Roof (who's defense is getting torched as I type this).

Finley not looking nearly as good. Losing Drink clearly has had an effect. They benched Finley just to keep him from getting hurt since he has not played very well. A couple picks and mostly just hitting on short throws when the WR is wide open. The more I see the more confident I am in Drink with him being the one who will call the plays.

You make a good point, Roof architected the defense that just lost 52-13. That would give me pause too.

That being said we will still beat the crap out of that school on highway 49. I bet they give suitcases instead of class rings.
