Ark St winning between the hedges? They struggle to beat bottom dwellers out of conference....

uh, they still have Blake Anderson, right? and...didn't Hansen just graduate? They may not even win the weak west.

I think the point was they are the only Sun Belt team playing a top shelf P5. The rest of us are playing P5s who would not necessarily move the meter enough to get us in.appstatealum wrote: ↑Wed Jan 09, 2019 8:00 amArk St winning between the hedges? Pure trash article and underdog dynasty is a joke for the most part. App State rarely gets any love from them and there are hardly ever any articles about App State.

I thought it did a good job of explaining life in G5 land. We have to schedule big and win them all to get in the discussion for the playoff or for NY6 if another G% has similar record/schedule. I don't think it was meant to slight any other Sun Belt team. As I mentioned earlier Arkansas State gets the nod because they have the strongest P5 on their schedule.

If we beat UNC and SC and at least one of them by 2 TDs, we will absolutely be in the NY6 discussion if we win out on the rest of our schedule. UCF has Stanford and Pitt..... not really moving the needle for me.goapps93 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 09, 2019 12:40 pmI thought it did a good job of explaining life in G5 land. Re: Sun Belt possibilities for NY6 in 2019--another opinion
I think the article gives a clear perspective that Sunbelt teams tried to schedule well but the conference does not have the strength of schedule to get into the PLAYOFFS. I think NYD G5 slot is still a possibility for SunBelt for an undefeated team.
As a side note, what are the possibilities of a later bowl game against a better opponent because some of the perennial powers have slipped?
Conference assignments to bowls help keep some games fun to watch and guarantee slots for G5, but do they hurt App's chances to finally get more respect by beating a top 25 in a bowl game?

I’m not the writer or anything, but what was trash about it? I thought it was blatantly accurate.appaneer1984 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 09, 2019 12:25 pmPure trash article and underdog dynasty is a joke for the most part. Yes. And nothing in there we haven’t known and talked about ad nauseum since we moved up. Article was a waste of time.

So you don’t want media coverage of the Sunbelt on subjects we’ve discussed on yosefscabin? I think we should be pleased with any and all media coverage we get.

Just saying UCF’s P5 wins the last two years have been Maryland and Pitt. One P5 win each year. Don’t think Maryland and Pitt move the needle either.goapps93 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 09, 2019 12:40 pmI thought it did a good job of explaining life in G5 land. they may have the strongest P5 on their schedule but they still have to play us and other teams this season that they lost to last season
