For those of you who can't make the game in Boone tonight, one of our better recruits -- Donovan Gregory of Matthews Carmel Christian -- will be in Greensboro tonight to face Greensboro Day. The game tips at 6 p.m. Carmel Christian (21-1) is MaxPreps' top-ranked team in North Carolina. Gregory is the team's leading scorer at 18.3 ppg.
how did we land him? I'm excited about seeing what he can do in our system next year. I'm thinking he starts next year, along with Delph and Forrest or Bibby, depending on who can most effectively run the point. Maybe James Lewis (the UTC transfer) will give Ike some much needed help down low as well.

We play a really bad UTA squad tonight. If there is a "must win" ,this might be it .
Battle for last place, or to not be the bottom dweller.

Me thinks that coach might have lost the locker room.

FIRE FOX!!!! Like as in tomorrow. Maybe this game will finally convince the more optimistic or delusional of our fan base that this chapter needs to close

ESPN had us at something like 88 percent chance of winning tonight. Anyway five years ...getting worse , not better.

The problem is DG gave him a 2 year extension at the end of last year. Logistically I don’t see us firing him mid season this year. MAYBE at the end of this season or mid season next year with continued bad performance.
Hope I’m wrong, but I just don’t see the funds to pay him out and get a decent HC in

I spoke to Wofford coach Mike Young at the socon tournament last year and mentioned that I loved seeing his teams play because of the way they play. His only comment was “thanks, we try to not make it too difficult.” He also seems to be pretty positive and down to earth and has good rapport with his players and fans. At this point I feel like we have the opposite of this.

Giving Fox the extension was the right move.

Firing Fox seems like the right decision.

Fox has to go. It’s been evident for some time now. We all wanted it to work out when he was hired, but at this point the ceiling of the program under his care has been realized.

I know that the buyout is a tough hurdle to cross, but it’s necessary in order to move the program forward.

I was a holdout, but this one did it for me. I agreed with DG giving Fox the extension, and do not fault him for it. Fox seems like a good guy, he’s represented App well, and he has brought in what seems to be some outstanding men. But this team has become predictable and painful to watch. I fully believed we would see marked improvement this year, especially with Bibby — and then his return from injury.

I may be wrong, but it seems to me that a change right now would cost the same as after the season. We are tied to Fox and his staff for the duration of their respective contracts, whether Fox coaches out the string or not. We can also see what the staff can do over the next two months. Even if they aren’t coaching for their jobs at App beyond the SBC Tournament, they have a shot to audition for a gig somewhere else, and a strong finish can lead to something better down the road. We need to go ahead and make the change and put the wheels in motion for 2019-20. Another year of floundering to save $$$ on the contract might cost us more in the long run.

DG should fire Fox and promote Allison to coach the rest of the season. Allison recruited these kids and knows them better than anyone else and he also landed the 2 Charlotte kids coming in next season. IMO recruiting isn’t the issue but style of play and in-game strategy/end of game situations are and those decisions rely solely on Jim Fox.

How often to mediocre or less than mediocre basketball coaches from weak programs with no history get canned mid-season? I don’t know that I’ve seen it happen.
