The problem with funding line items with special contributions in a situation where the program is still being supplemented is that the special contributions would generally result in other funds being re-directed and the net would be negligible on the targeted line item. That would be the case until the special contribution funded the entire line item.

Shatley Springs is a thousand times better than the Dan’l Boone Inn. This from a former DBI employee.
I find this hilarious. This thread has been derailed so many times, it has off-road tires.
Did I mention, I really love my new 18 Camaro SS? Its really fun to drive. :D
I think I forgot to mention my new to me 4X4 F150. It's really fun to drive too!
Oh yeah ! Chevy vs Ford ! Every Ford I’ve owned has been the been the biggest piece of **+* ! Just my honest ! Every Chevy smooth——
I always think the Ford vs. Chevy debate is funny. Some say Fords are junk, while others say the same about the other. I’ve owned 2 Fords and one Chevy, and the Chevy was a constant headache and never worked completely. However, I know plenty of people who can say the exact opposite.

In my experience, the correct answer to the Ford vs. Chevy debate is Toyota.

Simple answer, Yes. There are some schools that have endowed coaches positions. I am not sure if one would be able to make yearly contributions.
Right. The problem with doing this (in any organization) is an individual donors' opinion of where funds should go may differ from where an Athletic Program feel funds should go. If the funds are always being designated, you are hurting the programs ability to fund other things as they see fit. This could be a good or bad thing depending on leadership.

Bingo. I just posted a similar statement. I'm guessing you are like me and work with some financial situations similar to this. I've learned a lot working as a finance director for a church and a youth development organization. Trial by fire.

Yep. I've been a CPA for almost 35 years so yes I've served in a few financial roles. :-D

Yes, guys like you have taught me a lot! Being on the sales side of things, I didn't care about that stuff for a long time. I just filled out and labeled my expense reports, wrote my contracts, labeled my checks etc. Then when I was asked to do finance stuff outside of work, I realized how d*** complicated it all is. God Bless you guys that have to manage companies as large as mine.

Why is it that we, as CPA's, are always asked to be treasurer, finance director for every organization for which we volunteer?

The very best way to free up funds for salaries would be for Yosef to raise enough money to fund scholarships fully. That would free up about $3.5 million for other things.

Exactly. That was kind of the point I was making. Until we're fully funded, we really won't have the ability to manage line items the way that people wish we could. Of course, I think the idea of a benevolent millionaire funding our coaching salaries might be a bit of a pipe dream anyway. LOL

I don't know where you got that number, but it's not even close to the actual salaries.

Here's the source.

https://www.journalnow.com/sports/asu/f ... 5d0e1.html

Another well-sourced member of our forum has commented here that additional funds might be available for coaching salaries should the situation arise. I won't single that individual out, but I don't doubt the source.

It's probably best left "as is" and put our #trust in DG and The Visor." Bottom line? Even as I slap these characters out on my keyboard, the Gold-Ribbon App State Football coaching staff is meeting with our players to establish The Rules and set in motion the bonding process. Go Apps!
If it happens to the Apps, it happens to me!

Yeah, thanks!.... I was 99.9% sure I had read that on here or indirectly... Just can’t grasp how we’ve assembled this level of experience/talent at an average of 135k per man!....

Last year Bryan Brown was at 200k, Dale Jones as a 20+ Year coach and asst. DC Was 150k and Ivey and Clark were around 130k. Hard to believe we have replaced those guys with some NFL coaches for comparable money.
