Intersting that a men’s loss gets 43 replies while a women’s victory gets 4.

The season has already been lost. He's he's biding his time to pay the least he can. It was dumb to extend him.Gonzo wrote: ↑Fri Jan 25, 2019 7:03 amI’ve been a HUGE Doug Gillin fan from day one. That being said, I’m starting to lose confidence in him when it comes to basketball. The time has come and gone to relieve coach Fox of his duties. It’s indefensible. What in God’s name is he waiting for?

Sad that the only decent basketball on campus doesn't get much love or fan support.

Outside of Connecticut, Tennessee and a few other programs, I believe that is the status quo. Look at March Madness, Bracketology, etc.

I would love that "predicament" . At some point the hit on our players psyches may be to much to overcome.Goapps15 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 25, 2019 7:08 amMy belief is he wants the entire staff gone. If he fires Fox today that gives Allison a chance to finish strong and then puts Doug in a predicament.Gonzo wrote: ↑Fri Jan 25, 2019 7:03 amI’ve been a HUGE Doug Gillin fan from day one. If he coached football he'd be gone by now. Other sports deserve the same expectations from their coaches. If they can't be fulfilled then it's time for a change. Sooner better than later.

My kids say that the women's games are better attended than the men's but it is still low attendance.

Unless Allyson is going to be considered for the head job, it will not help our program to fire our head coach during the season. All thats going to do is leave our program short staffed.

Appalachian State (5-14, 0-6 Sun Belt) lost for the eighth straight time and is 0-9 away from Boone.
Pathetic and Totally Embarrassing! Totally Unacceptable!!

Opinion : I disagree. The current situation is toxic. One man responsible.

Re: Men's Basketball @ A-State
One of my fears is that MBB will win a few in the homestretch and then some will suddenly think that we owe Fox another chance, including some of the higher ups in our Athletic Department. We've done that quite a few times now, giving the guy a second, third, fourth, fifth, and so on chance. We can't anymore. There has to come a point where we say, "Okay, that's it. We are moving in a different direction. Thanks for your time, Fox."
I'm conflicted here because of this very fear. I want App to win every single thing that we can win, period, but I also wonder if we need to completely crash and burn this season for us to truly start from scratch again and right the seemingly sinking ship. I don't know. I don't want us to lose, but I don't want us to win and catch those "one more chance" feelings again.

Re: Men's Basketball @ A-State
I've been a very big Fox supporter and I favored giving him the extension based on the belief/opinion that we were about the turn the corner and reap the rewards of the past few years. I have to admit that I've conceded that I was wrong and I really think the ship has sailed. We've had bad seasons and stretches in the past but nothing that matches this year in that we have a higher level of talent but seem to be doing worse.
For the record, I acknowledged last year that giving the extension came with a significant risk of having to eat a year of the contract. DG is more savvy than I am, so I have to think this contingency hasn't caught him unprepared.

At least there is some fight left in this team. Last night they battled into overtime and didn't quit.
It doesn't fix the problems (and a win would have really helped last night), but they kept battling. I do want this team to win, because losing sucks. There's no way that it's going to change DG's mind at this point.

Re: Men's Basketball @ A-State
I think Fox did an admirable job of pulling out the academic disaster Capel put us in. I was hopeful the wins would come. Unfortunately they haven’t. With the academic issues behind us, it is time to move on.
DG may be hoping to wait to the end of the season. At 0-6 in conference, 0-9 on the road, and 2 D1 wins all year Fox may force DG’s hand. I mentioned it earlier there is way to much talent and potential to be this bad. End The Nightmare.

Re: Men's Basketball @ A-State
Shabazz has yet to win a game at the buzzer for us yet Fox calls his number every time....with no set play or screen. I hate it but we gotta make a change now.
