Re: Derrick Transfer
Baldwin will be a redshirt for 2019 according to the coaches. He will play in 4 games max unless something goes horribly wrong. I think we'd better hope he's not the #2 by week 1.

Re: Derrick Transfer
I hope he makes a better landing than Caruso did... When he left, I thought he would be “The Man” at Delaware... then he just kinda slipped into oblivion... Derrick is probably a stronger all around QB though...

*edit* Some of you'ns crack me up.
PS, why is it ok for the football team to smoke inside a building on campus?

The new transfer rules have turned college football into free agency. Recntly heard there are over 1400 in the transfer portal.

When I hear transfer portal, I think of this.

Re: Derrick Transfer
according to someone who has actually spoken to the coaching staff, the plan is for him to Redshirt. I still believe he is, at least, the 2nd best QB available to play even as a true freshman. It would make sense to have him prep as the number 2 given Thomas' dislike of sliding.
If I were the coach, which I'm not, I'd give every QB a fair shake and let the depth chart filter itself out.
But again, we've seen incumbants who appeared to have a vice grip on the starting job beaten out before in Boone.

Re: Derrick Transfer
dont trip yourself back peddling. This is essentially what we have been saying all along. Baldwin is a great talent with lots of potential, but as said before, if he sees more than his allowed 4 games this year, we are in troubleericsaid wrote: ↑Wed Feb 27, 2019 2:18 pmaccording to someone who has actually spoken to the coaching staff, the plan is for him to Redshirt. Seems like you may have been the only one in here who didn’t know he was for sure gonna redshirt, glad someone finally brought you up to speed lol.ericsaid wrote: ↑Wed Feb 27, 2019 2:18 pmaccording to someone who has actually spoken to the coaching staff, the plan is for him to Redshirt. Re: Derrick Transfer
My understanding is that the department is launching the Zac Thomas for Heisman campaign. Of course, after winning it Zac will be a first round draft pic and then Baldwin will win it in 2020. We're following the Oklahoma model.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Wed Feb 27, 2019 3:38 pmHas the athletic department started Baldwin's Heisman campaign for 2019, yet?
Huesman will fall to the lower rounds in the draft and will become a journeyman QB in the NFL for a few years before returning as our QB coach and offensive coordinator. The big argument will be whether App is the QB University, RB University or LB University. The debate will be heated.
Hey, if I'm going to dream I say dream big!

That would make Baldwin, what, 9 years old? Very impressive heisman candidate!

Re: Derrick Transfer
I agree on all points except Huesman. He will be the next Tom Brady.Yosef84 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 27, 2019 3:45 pmMy understanding is that the department is launching the Zac Thomas for Heisman campaign. Re: Derrick Transfer
Ya’ll Eric has a point. Baldwin was the #2 QB on his high school team his Senior Year, so it stands to reason that he is a natural #2 here.ericsaid wrote: ↑Wed Feb 27, 2019 2:18 pmaccording to someone who has actually spoken to the coaching staff, the plan is for him to Redshirt. Re: Derrick Transfer
Did not expect him to go this quick but I think he had fallen to 3rd string and was likely going to fall behind Baldwin in 2020 so he is going to play elsewhere. Wonder if Satt tries to get him at Louisville but have to think that won't happen if playing time is truly why Derrick is leaving because he would be a backup there as well. I believe he ends up in FCS and wish him well.
