Sometimes the Charlotte Observer accidentally delivers a paper to my house. I toss it in the recycle bin. Should I be worried they're going to come after me? That dude that kept the 86 inch flat screen tv that was delivered to him on accident got arrested.

Depends on if it is unaddressed or if it had someone else's address on it.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2019 9:40 amSometimes the Charlotte Observer accidentally delivers a paper to my house. That's what I do. I gripe and I know things.

Re: Men's Basketball Coaching Search
I guess the larger question is who owns the information after it has been consumed. If I read an article and then later spout the facts of the article to someone, I don't see a problem. If you're quoting an entire article on a message board, there's obviously an issue. The post in question simply said that Mountaineer Mania stated the hire would be made and announced by this afternoon. No additional details, no opinion or detailed elaboration which is the true benefit of those articles behind paywall sites. For this I don't see where there is an issue.

Anyone know how accurate these guys are?
By the sounds of that, Lutz is no longer on the radar. Craft is a decent choice but not sure Kerns has the success or track record for us to give him the keys to our struggling and very vulnerable b-ball program.

Perhaps we don't get what we want, but get what we need. Hoping that is the case.Looking at Kerns, I'm intrigued.

Not saying any of these guys don’t have potential to be great (and I think they do)
However with Troy hiring Scott Cross, these names would be a bit of a let down.

Re: Men's Basketball Coaching Search
Craft and Kerns would be a first (according to DJ last week on the podcast). Either one would be the first Division I coach we hired who was on his way up, and not on his way down. If we can do that (Craft looks tempting to me), we will send a message that we are not entry level in Division I.appstate24 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2019 9:53 amAnyone know how accurate these guys are?

Re: Men's Basketball Coaching Search
Guys relax.
I posted something that was posted on a website that was free for anyone to see.
On a free message board section.
Mike Jones turned down Elon as well, so don't feel too bad.
Dougs comment about "you start big and move down", leads me to believe App has been turned down by 1 candidate, if not multiple.
No shame in that, as long as that next tier of guys are solid and you know you can grab one.
If that ends up being Kerns or Craft, I think either would be respectable hires. I would prefer Craft due to a longer track record of winning.
Kerns could be a up and coming superstar though. Less track record=more risk
According to Doug, we are offering the same salary as before....essentially
Disappointing but it is what it is.

Re: Men's Basketball Coaching Search
I mean PC was an absolute disaster and he turned them around in no time. Don’t know what you mean by “FBS” but PC is a D1 school in the Big South. Assistant at Wofford. I agree it may not be a slam dunk hire on paper but he seems to be young and charismatic and knows how to build a program. If you can win at PC you can sure as hell win in Boone.Gonzo wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2019 10:19 amJust read Kerns' wiki and looked at all PC's game results over the last two seasons. Maybe there's some eye ball test factor or industry buzz about this guy but I am not seeing it at all on paper. Anyone have a clue as to why this guy is on the radar for any FBS conference BBall HC job, much less ours?
Please make me feel better about him in case he's our guy.

First time poster, like to throw a random name out and see what y'all think: Casey Alexander.

Re: Men's Basketball Coaching Search
Lutz looking REALLY good right now. Loved his enthusiasm in that interview and coupled with the other names we are hearing, I think he is the “splash” we need. B-ball program needs a shot in the arm in a bad way.
Since it seems like he’s out, I hope he didn’t use that interview to play us and pry more money out of Cobb and GSU.

Re: Men's Basketball Coaching Search
Lutz would of won the press conference, lots of media coverage for App and IMO probably the safest bet to get us to atleast .500 or better consistently in the conference.
Sadly, it appears Doug isn't interested. Lutz said he was willing to come, but I suspect they may not even been an offer on the table.
Jones would of been a good hire but isn't a big name like Lutz.
I think Craft is probably the best hire. If App gets Craft, I would expect him to turn things around in a 4-5 years then move on to a bigger job. That is fine, you just hire a guy to take over a good program.
If we end up missing on Craft, Doug may wish he would of offered Lutz.

If it doesn’t happen today we can completely disregard the “insiders” who also said Mike Jones turned us down.
