Re: Men's Basketball Coaching Search
If you go to his Kerns Presbyterian page there’s some good info there that’s hard not to get excited about.
In 2015 was ranked the number 4 low-major recruiter in the country, 20th mid-major assistant coach. Recruited Fletcher Magee to Wofford. His teams stats this year were also pretty impressive. Presbys first ever post season win as well.

Exciting!
I'm hoping for an Official Press Release soon. Strange to have some App pay site scoop the hire especially after the way DG kept the much more high-profile football hire under such tight seal. Wouldn't want a UNCC-style gaff where it turns out our new coach isn't our new coach.

Props to RiverRunsThroughIt though, you should look into building your own pay site my man lol.

Cool, a Clemson grad. If he has good success here and Clemson has an opening he’s gonna take the job.

Kerns is the guy I’ve mentioned for weeks now after perusing ncaa stats and seeing Presbyterian pop up near the top of several categories. Nobody seemed to get very excited though. I thought App would work for him since he’s proven he can win with a previously struggling d-1 program in short amount of time, and it brings him closer to home. Hope the recruits stay with him.

One thing I’ve learned about this fan base - if there’s an older (50+) retread hire out there who’s ever said a single word about App, this fan base wants him. Never the up and comer. So I’m not surprised. But good call, after looking him up the past hour or so I’m happy with yet another DG hire. Way to go DG.

Re: Men's Basketball Coaching Search
I've no problem with hire and there is much to be hopeful about with his resume including his Wofford ties. But what is critical is keeping the recruiting class in tact. Any rumors of any current team members looking to leave? The next couple of days will be critical to his success.app97 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2019 3:48 pmKerns is the guy I’ve mentioned for weeks now after perusing ncaa stats and seeing Presbyterian pop up near the top of several categories. I do not care. Not for one single minute.Boroneer10 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2019 3:46 pmCool, a Clemson grad. If he has good success here and Clemson has an opening he’s gonna take the job.
If he has success here, he’ll snap a nasty streak and we’ll be in a better position to attract the next coach if (or when) he decides to leave.
Seems like a good hire and the last thing I’m going to do is look for the downside of theoretical success.

I’m sure there will be some attrition, but I’m interested to see who stays from our current crop of players.

Re: Men's Basketball Coaching Search
A wee bit of Kerns trivia...one of his assistant coaches at PC is a young pup named Patrick Moynihan. He's served under Kerns at PC for two seasons and was a grad assistant at Troy for one season. So what you ask?
The guy is Lefty Driesell's grandson. He ought to be rippin' with basketball genes...along with foot-stompin' and storytellin' skills.
In a week he'll probably be on our staff doing something.

If it happens to the Apps, it happens to me!

Using the logic of not hiring a coach because they might become a successful coach and return to their alma mater, we would only hire high school dropoutsBoroneer10 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2019 3:46 pmCool, a Clemson grad. If he has good success here and Clemson has an opening he’s gonna take the job.

Hopefully he wouldn't be a chair throwing...oh wait, he would be a Knight grandson then.asu66 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2019 4:37 pmA wee bit of Kerns trivia...one of his assistant coaches at PC is a young pup named Patrick Moynihan.
