Kinda odd statement from ZT at the end.

How did you take it as odd? I just imagined a question was posed in the vein of "You had such a fantastic year last year, how does returning as a "star player" impact this year?" or something like that. Were you thinking it showed some locker room struggles, or something?

Sorry, I don’t see anything odd about ZT’s last statement.

Just sounds like a young man trying to keep perspective to me. Nothing alarming at all. I like that he is giving credit to his team mates.

Odd photo of the ref with the 'A' hat and flag. Wonder if he runs the endline when we score?

The way it was written, to me sounded like with the new offense and getting the ball to receivers more and less keeping by ZT he was struggling with having to give the ball up more. Especially with the part about willing to share the spotlight and plenty of spotlight to go around, and not letting it go to his head or be a jerk in the locker room.
Not saying there is a controversy and not trying to stir one up, just the totality of all the statements just struck me as a bit odd.
Hard to tell without the context of the question, but just can’t figure out what would prompt him to talk about being a jerk in the locker room when the article was about a change in the offensive scheme.

The article and Drink's speech at the Yosef Club tour event had me concerned we may shift too much away from the run. After looking at NSCU's stats last year though they were very balanced and great on 3rd downs.

464 passes - 24 TDs
446 rushes - 27 TDs

50% on 3rd downs.

I didn't read it as there being a problem with sharing the spotlight. I read it as there being a change in expectations. Satterfield EXPECTED him to be a running QB and that's what he became. This year, he is having to adapt because he is expected to spread the ball around and let the WRs make plays. He will need to trust the OL more. I think the OL will be better able to earn that trust this year. As we get a little bigger and deeper at the OL, everything improves. I also think that a more robust passing game will make teams play defense very differently against us and I completely agree with him that our RBs will benefit by having more big plays.

If things gel as they are supposed to, this could be a very fun season.

Heck, I thought Evans had a high average per carry and game last season, plus expecting Peoples to make a big splash this year and the article is talking about passing more? Guessing it'll have to be more throws to the backs? Wasn't there a few posts about being thin at receiver?

I could see Evans flexing into the slot quite a bit this year. Getting him the ball on screens, sweeps, and underneath routes could add a whole new element to the offense. If you look at the roster online, Evans position is listed as “RB/WR”.

So that could alleviate some of the depth concerns at receiver.

If it's any consolation to Zac's progress and coach's expectations Coach Drinkwitz was asked at Spring Tour Raleigh stop what he learned during Spring Practice and his first answer was that he learned that "Zac Thomas is a really good QB." He seemed genuinely pleased and confident of that.

I didn't see anything odd.

On the play calling, I have been a strong believer that Satt often got too heavy on running which in turn allowed defenses to start stacking box. Satt believed in running to open the passing game. I think the biggest difference we will see is Drink will pass to open the running game. I think that will actually work in our favor and Zac also seems to believe in that per the interview comments. The beauty of that approach is the QB and receivers tend to get into a rhythm better when you let the QB sling it around early in the game. I hear a lot of analyst today seem to like that and many top tier college and NFL programs are trending this way.

I’m betting our yards per carry increase , perhaps not our rushing totals.Going to be fun to watch it unfold.

If that is the reason for the stripe, as I suspect you are correct, that is both brilliant of the staff and astute of you to pick up on that. I bow to you Sir.
