Big news from UNC - Sylvia Hatchell resigns as UNC Women’s Basketball coach after 33 years at Carolina. Statement from school and findings from independent firm investigation below pic.twitter.com/8QarN9g3yE
— Kelsey Riggs (@KelseyRiggsWCNC) April 19, 2019
"The University commissioned a review of our women's basketball program, which found issues that led us to conclude that the program needed to be taken in a new direction,” read athletic director Bubba Cunningham’s statement. “It is in the best interests of our University and student-athletes for us to do so.”
Hatchell’s statement read in part, “It has been the great honor and privilege of my life to coach at the University of North Carolina. I want to thank John Swofford for giving me my dream job 33 years ago. The University will always hold a special place in my heart.”

I don't know the "behind the scenes" on this. Maybe she is guilty of something but it sure does smell like a scapegoat from here.

While it's well known fact that I loathe anything connected to Franklin Street and uncheat, follow the money and do the math: Which program brings in more alumni and fan dollars? Which program brings in more dollars during their respective March Madness? Which program is the more recognizable year in and year out? Which program has the greater perceived prestige? For which program does the ACC commish have a greater affinity? Need any more?Black Saturday wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2019 9:34 amWhile the ones guilty of academic fraud and cheating have a free pass?
We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

UNCheat
"I’ve always said the program is bigger than me, any one player or any one coach."--Scott Satterfield
Re: Coach canned
I also have no love lost on anything Tarholes. But I find it extremely hard to believe that the independent firm (Rams Club? I haven't any knowledge of that but.....) found anything any normal coach may say to their team. Yep and they let the big Roy fish get away. No ill will to remaining WBB players at cheat but it would not make me sad to see the program nose dive. Hope SH gets some well deserved $$$ from this.
