I had a good time in Charlotte last year. Of course I live in the area and work here in uptown Charlotte. I know some of the App fans like to be super dismissive of the Niners, and it sounds like I'm one of those in my above post (the "delusional" comment) but that comment was really pointed at a specific segment that thinks things are going to reverse in one year. Most don't believe that. All that being said, I expect this to actually be a pretty good game. Charlotte is going to have this game circled on their calendar. Hopefully App isn't looking past it to UNC. Just remember that they actually moved the ball pretty well between the 20's last year. They have a solid QB and a great kicker. They defended our running game very well, which is what resulted in Zach having another break out passing game. Charlotte isn't Gardner Webb, so let's show up in play the game. It should be a great day in Boone!

You think they are going to be looking past people? It's very possible that their heads will still be swimming. NCAA rules aren't friendly to first year coaches making verbiage changes on both sides of the ball. App likely won't be looking past the next play until Spring Practice of 2020.

I didn't say that I thought they would be looking past. I said I hoped they weren't. This is a classic "trap" situation against a team we man handled last year. We will be heavily favored and we have a high profile game the week afterwards. I'm not sure that the complexity of the new verbiage is going to provide tons of assurance against over confidence but who knows. All indications are the Coach Drink has thing in hand and I'm sure he will keep the team focused. I don't want this game to be close. I'd like to see the team dominate and get some subs in the second half.

Most Charlotte fans believe that Lambert was a big liability and held them back. Because of that, they tend to think there will be immediate lift with the new staff. Of course, that remains to be seen. It could certainly take a little longer to see the improvement from the staff change, but that's what keeps things interesting in college football.

The Gardner Webb game should be a sellout because it is UNCC’s best rivalry. They’ve played twice and both were barn burners, with GW winning by 3 at home and UNCC winning by 2 at home (although they gave up 51 points). THIS rivalry classic should be played at the end of the season along with Clemson-SC, Alabama-Auburn, Michigan- Ohio State, and App State-Troy.
