D-I Basketball Signing Period Will Open Tomorrow Thru May 15th
The Division I regular signing period for basketball begins tomorrow (April 17th) and runs through Wednesday, May 15th.
Coach DK has two available grants. There have been whispers that he'll use one and save one. We'll know when he decides to announce the spring signee or signees.
We could use a low post behemoth with a soft touch (unlikely) and/or a fluid stretch-four who can shoot 40%+ from anywhere (75%+ from the line). So could every other team.

Rumor here in SWVa is that we are close to signing Zac Ervin a 6'5 shooting guard out of Gate City HS. He was a HS teammate of Georgetown's Mac McClung and has apparently decommitted from Wofford after Young went to VaTech. Maybe just a rumor but hope it works out.

Gate City aka West Jefferson North. Crazy how similar those two towns look on the Main Street.ASU3432Mi wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2019 2:40 pmRumor here in SWVa is that we are close to signing Zac Ervin a 6'5 shooting guard out of Gate City HS. It's down to 14 days remaining in the signing period and App still has two available slots to fill. After May 15, players can still sign but their signatures on a letter-of-intent will be non-binding. I hope we don't get into that scenario. We've been there before and ended up losing in every case I can remember. Renegade players will screw-folks-over in any way possible to work their way up to the best team/conference possible.

Re: D-I Basketball Signing Period Will Open Tomorrow Thru May 15th
If anyone's prone to nail-biting, this afternoon's the time. Been hoping for an SBC ready Big sleeper or grad transfer to fly in under the radar, but it's been eerily quiet over at HCC for two weeks other than getting Kendall Lewis' LOI signed and in.
I'd prefer adding one "immediate lineup insert" Big but this late, DK may bank the two remaining grants for 2020. That would give him lots of options for the upcoming Nov. '19 (2020) signing period. I know that the staff has searched literally dozens of files from "as yet" unsigned 2019 guys, but most just aren't of D-I caliber or something about their credentials doesn't project academic/athletic success or a fit into a high-character culture.
Either way, we're in for a positive experience October through March if our guys remain healthy and happy! Go Apps! Glad to have DK and company at the reins.

Does that mean he can play without sitting a year?

Re: D-I Basketball Signing Period Will Open Tomorrow Thru May 15th
I'm not a big fan of flipping another institution's players after the signed LOI is filed. Still scratchin' my head over this one. Takin' a Big South "big" to fight Sun Belt "paint wars" sounds like more than a wild gamble; but I haven't seen the kid play. I'll accept it as DK deciding to fill a need now rather than having so many true/untried freshmen coming in next summer. Gonna be interesting to sit back and watch this machine roll off the assembly line.

I don’t feel like I really know what’s going on with basketball right now.
Is this guy in addition to the earlier mentioned non s holly or is this the non scholarship from Presbyterian?
As far as taking recruits, to me feels like it happens all the time. Seems like once this guy openened back up, he had a lot of interest.

That's my assumption, as well. We'll need muscle, length and width next season to make up for the loss of Ike and Hunter. RJ'll get a season of pounding and schooling under the boards w/o burning any eligibility. Hope he proves to be up to the task.hapapp wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2019 1:38 pmI believe he will be redshirted.asu66 wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2019 10:56 amI'm not a big fan of flipping another institution's players after the signed LOI is filed. Gardner-Webb could have won the Sunbelt.
