Why would Tepper lease to play at Memorial when he owns BofA?Saint3333 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2019 8:28 amMaybe not:

Re: MLS to Charlotte
Yeah, no chance. If Tepper is getting MLS, he's comboing that with the Panthers. They will both play in BoA Stadium and the stadium will receive significant upgrades. Those upgrades will be part of the MLS bid package.Saint3333 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2019 8:28 amMaybe not:

There's 0% chance he takes on an MLS team to upgrade a stadium other than BoA and then turn around and have to upgrade BoA at the same time for the Panthers.

Re: MLS to Charlotte
Taking away the upgrade factors, and only speaking to fan experience, D.C. United games at Audi Field are way better than R.F.K. Charlotte doesn't have the largest market, and being an expansion team outside of your own region can be tough. Give the fans and potential players a nice facility to exclusively call home. Also, from what I've seen from when Panthers share the stadium with ACC Championship and Belk Bowl, the field does not appear to be one that could maintain that many events. Unless they have or plan to get new turf. Atlanta, Seattle, & New England share stadiums with football teams. However they play on turf and not grass.

Re: MLS to Charlotte
I would prefer they play at a renovated 40K Memorial Stadium, but that looks unlikely. Turf at BofA would be a must. Easy fix with the wave of Teppers billion dollar wand./\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2019 11:01 amTaking away the upgrade factors, and only speaking to fan experience, D.C. Re: MLS to Charlotte
Seems ridiculous not to use the BofA stadium. Makes total sense to get some additional usage from the facility.

Agree. Jerry underutilized BofA to the extreme. Never understood that. Tepper intends to do the opposite. Amenities, games, concerts, beer festivals, and possibly MLS. He's even flirted with the idea of the Super Bowl. That's a whole nother conversation. It's a long shot, but I have confidence in him. Having a guy like Tepper in town will pay big dividends.

I do have other motives. I enjoy App football more than the panthers. If I sell my Panther tickets I will have some extra qwan to give App AND buy MLS tickets. I’ve had Club seats since day one and it may be time to cash out.

Re: MLS to Charlotte
My wife (that's the first time I've typed that since we were married about 2 weeks ago -- feels odd -- Ha!) and I will be there! I'm a big Gunners fan and have been waiting a long time for them to get somewhere close to a pitch around Charlotte, and at a date that would work, for us to make it...and finally, they're here. I don't remember Arsenal playing in BofA before - we must've been way out of town, or had a really big conflict, as we would've certainly been there. Was really hoping to see the boys from North London play AS Roma as part of the ICC but I understand their situation...and will take what I can get.

Re: MLS to Charlotte
Memorial is still not large enough from a field aspect to accommodate soccer. The historical walls have to be removed and expanded to fit a regulation field. There are other major adjustments that need to be made to accommodate more seating and necessary facilities. The city and county have been fighting about this for years because the expansion project will be so expensive. I've seen all of the blueprints and renderings for the stadium and it would absolutely be awesome. Problem is the bill to pay for it. Tepper won't use it unless he owns it, and the city has no plans to give it up. The Elizabeth area would be an awesome location, minus the parking hurdles. If this MLS thing happens, it's going to be in BofA.Saint3333 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2019 8:28 amMaybe not:

Re: MLS to Charlotte
Frankly, the optics suck to watch soccer with 15-20,000 fans in a 70,000 seat stadium (or whatever BofA seats). I know MLS encourages soccer specific stadiums. Atlanta's entry being the exception because they can fill it. Money does talk, so we'll see.

Re: MLS to Charlotte
If 15,000 - 20,000 is all they draw then this is a complete failure. I think you see around 40k with tarps over the empty seats, Seattle style.

My family and I did a trip to Amsterdam (my youngest son had a camp at Ajax for a week) and London 3 years ago. We toured Emirates Stadium. It was fantastic.HkyMtneer wrote: ↑Thu Jul 11, 2019 4:08 pmMy wife (that's the first time I've typed that since we were married about 2 weeks ago -- feels odd -- Ha!) and I will be there! Re: MLS to Charlotte
You might be right but only two teams draw that now.
