Re: App State chant
Awesome. Loud and proud. Our opponents plan to do their weak copy “Forty... Niners” in our stadium. Be ready to snuff it out quickly.

Re: App State chant
Wow. I don't remember hearing the "Forty....Niners" cheer last year in their home stadium. If they can get it done the more power to them. I'm pretty sure we can drown it out.
Re: App State chant
Can anyone tell me why it went away in the first place? Maybe I missed something.
Re: App State chant
They tried it on the light rail post game but the "Niners" part was quickly hijacked with "5 to 9" from the App faithful.

Re: App State chant
Last week it was a hot mess. I heard the chant faintly from the West side then again from the Hill. The first game is the same every year. Too fast, too quiet, no organization. The cheerleaders need to get it going and do their pointing thing to get everyone on the same page.

I was curious about this too. I saw Gillin tweet about it so I guess maybe it was something from the video board... maybe? I'm not quite clear on why the crowd couldn't just chant App State whenever they wanted.

Re: App State chant
Can someone do the math on how long the students need to wait after yelling APP before they yell APP again. Because 1 second ain't it.
You have to yell it, wait for the sound to hit the other side, they need to process what's going on, yell it back, have the sound travel back to the App side, then yell again.
I'm honestly curious on the math here (this is tongue in cheek)

Re: App State chant
Yep, the video board has been used before to direct the APP - STATE chant. Just dig that graphic out of the moth balls and we can pretend the "We Will Rock You" chant never happened.
I don't mind the admins trying new cheers. Sometimes the idea is better than reality. This was one of those instances.

Re: App State chant
They attempted start the SKOL chant on the board at the start of the ETSU game (like the Carolina Hurricanes) instead of our normal chant. It didn't go that well. I am thankful that they will bring back the App/State chant this weekend. I saw the cheerleaders and students tried to start it a couple times during the game, but it was while we were on offense, so we didn't respond STATE!!! from the east side. We will figure it out. #BeatUNCConcord!

Unless we're going to start doing our own version of the Storm Surge postgame celebrations ("Rock Slides"?) - which I would not totally be opposed to - we should probably just do our own thing.

Re: App State chant
Anyone notice Akeem Davis tweet to Doug that he didn’t hear the “App/State” chance once during the game? Time to step it up this week for UNCC!

When I was in school the students started it. Why did it ever go away?

Re: App State chant
I repeat. It was done three times Saturday. One time was drowned out by stupid music from the video board.

Re: App State chant
My friends and I used to start it right after the national anthem from 09’-12’. Graduation obviously changed our roles, but I’d like to think that would be something that students would continue..../\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2019 10:41 amWhen I was in school the students started it. Re: App State chant
I was on the field during warmups and when the team ran on to the field. The students tried to get the chant started, but it was unorganized. The east-side didn’t respond at all. Sitting on the east-side, I heard the students start the chant several times during the game, but it never got loud enough for the east-side to respond.

I'm completely in favor of the APP/STATE chant, especially in that just-before-intros slot, but the SKOL clap/chant would be pretty awesome if the spot were right, such as between kickoff/punts to the visiting team during the changeover, while the red caps are out, just before starting a crucial defensive series in the 4th Quarter. If it could be executed even close to correctly it would set a heck of an ominous tone for the visitors. Maybe we could distribute some Vikings videos for everyone to watch prior to going live? Ha!
