nope. Maybe some similarities, but overall it's not what we're doing.

I just said what the fire marshal in Charlotte said. He expressed concern over the “trend”.smokeshow wrote: ↑Thu Aug 15, 2019 12:25 pmAlso whoever is saying bad things about stick built building don't know what they are talking about. It will adequately be sprinkled and for a dorm or residence hall that is normal style of construction. Cost really has nothing to do with it. Stick built vs. aluminum framing is a wash if anything its harder to find subs that are equipped to do stick built framing of this size. Also metal building are just a flammable if not worse than a stick built building it all depends on the fire stops and the amount of air that can fuel the fire. Metal burns the same way.

Re: North End Zone Construction
Gillin said today that the building should start going up any day now, noted there were more than 80 holes drilled for the foundation.
Also said the team won't move into the new facilities until after the 2020 season. The Chapel Hill 2022 home game was noted as a finishing point for all current plans, including maybe connection the east and west sides via the north endzone facility;

Watching the NEZ construction is like watching someone play Dig Dug.Appstate88 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2019 2:23 pmHey, Hey, Hey....NEZ construction activity alert....We are digging a few foundation holes and pouring a little concrete today.

Dig Dug needs more guys standing around holding their shovel in their hand.yosef13 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2019 2:44 pmWatching the NEZ construction is like watching someone play Dig Dug.Appstate88 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2019 2:23 pmHey, Hey, Hey....NEZ construction activity alert....We are digging a few foundation holes and pouring a little concrete today.

Looks like we need a new contractor. ODU's stadium took 9 MONTHS to tear down and rebuild. Why will a single building take us 2 years?

Its all about the money - where it comes from and how much of it there is in the budget. Projects paid for by private donations are typically build very quickly. Public project are the polar opposite. Since there is an individual's name on the building, I suspect the project was privately funded. If I had won the billion dollar lottery I would be watching the game Saturday from my private suite atop the nicest end zone facility in all of college football. Sadly, that is not the caseApp91 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2019 9:57 amLooks like we need a new contractor. ODU's stadium took 9 MONTHS to tear down and rebuild. Why will a single building take us 2 years?

dying at the sudden new posters defending the construction. Especially the shape that endzone was left in for the game. No wind screen around construction fence. Sounds like some DPR guys have been sent on here to combat the disgruntled fans.

Another row of footing holes to catch PATs this week. It would be an interesting betting pool. Instead of cow bingo guessing which square the cow poops in, which hole will the PAT land in? Side bet, will the guy retrieving the ball hurt himself or not in the process?

Re: North End Zone Construction
So if we have footers being poured, I would assume that there are plans somewhere. Has anyone seen for sure what this building is going to look like?

I was thinking we might put up a couple of billboard size renderings of the finished product to block the construction.

That would be great! At least the windscreen style they have over around Sanford Hall.

More footer holes this week. Going Odds of a kicked football landing in one?
I say 25% for this week.

Re: North End Zone Construction
It looks like the work crew left a ladder in each of the back 2 new center footer holes, right down the field goal pipe, as a possible favor to those ball retrievers for tomorrow.

Re: North End Zone Construction
The center ones had ladders last week as well. What's the worker's comp premium rate on "football retriever in a construction zone"?
