Re: Coastal Carolina
I will say this ... 2nd half was better but we have lots of work to do on D. The offense is special.

That drive there is how you break a teams back! I love it, old school App State football! Run it down their throats! Also our Oline channeled their inner Parker Collins with that in your face chipiness, thought Hannon and Neuzil were going to drive that dude back to Myrtle Beach on that 4th down!!!!

Re: Coastal Carolina
I feel very cozy at 4-0 and one of those being a win at UNC. I guess for some its just never good enough.

Re: Coastal Carolina
To be fair it is a week by week approach and I think our friend Chaz has been on the right side of the fence each week. I think we saw glimpses in the second half but that first half defense was rough no matter how you slice it. On to the next one 1-0 in the SBC.

Re: Coastal Carolina
I like most fans with a brain am really disturbed by our defense. We have excellent players, juniors and seniors and depth. Ted Roof should not be fired, but he has done an inexcusably horrible job.
That being said, most games cannot be viewed in the lense of just that day. I believe that the history between opponents is worth noting too. And here is what I like...we are 6-0 against Coastal. This is our 3rd highest margin of victory and highest margin in Sun Belt play.
Now hopefully a good 9 days off to heal and focus on one of the best running games in the country.
App State vs Louisiana will be a showdown.
At the end of the day beating ETSU by 35, Charlotte by 15, North Carolina by 3 and Coastal by 19 are good results.

Re: Coastal Carolina
I agree. The D was shutting them down. Hard to get going again once you take a long break. But I’m sure all the coaches on this board could have made a difference.

Re: Coastal Carolina
I guess I’m just more optimistic than many. Yes, our defense did give up nearly 400 yards. However, only 16 points in the final 3 quarters, 7 of those with their starters against our backups and 6 on a really short field. There’s obviously places to work, but we won by 3 scores and are undefeated. Significant challenges remain, but this is a damn good football team. Take some time to breathe and settle down and enjoy the ride.

Re: Coastal Carolina
Starters only gave up 9 in the 2nd half. The TD at the end was against 3rd stringers (according to our radio guys).

SMU is 5-0. Check out their scores and points allowed. First time 5-0 since 1983. I’m sure they have fans who want their defensive coordinator fired even though they are unbeaten.

Re: Coastal Carolina
I wasn’t happy with the roof hire. I was really unhappy after the Charlotte game, obviously pretty happy with the UNC game. I really don’t have a problem with today’s performance.
All week we talked about how tough Coastal would be. How they possessed the ball and ran it really well. We had a bad 1st series, then made some good adjustments that worked before the long delay and bad series, had another great series and essentially shut them down. We held their RB under 100 yards for the first time in 3 games. Yeah, they made some plays and got some yards, but overall the defense did really good.
