I don’t think our defense can stop any of the Troy, Ark St, ULL or GS teams. Of course no one was stopped Troy or Ark st tonight either, 45-43 with 12 minutes to go.

The Belt is certainly living up to its nickname Fun Belt.

But who do you think is stopping our offense?

All we need is like two stops against those teams and we win shootouts!

It is like tennis this year, first one to break serve wins. I have more faith that our defense can stop a couple of those offensive drives than I do that those defense can stop a couple of our offensive drives. Fun Belt is in full swing this season and we have more horses on offense.

ULL has the best defense thus far.

ULL did hold us to 27 and 30 last year, so that gives me some pause.

The bigger concern for me is that if we're going to keep allowing 40 points to the UNCCs and Coastals of the world, a team doesn't necessarily have to stop our offense to beat us.

ZT played the first ULLaf game hurt so it limited his running which stagnated the offense a bit.

I really don't think ULL "held" us to 27 / 30 as much as Satterfield took the air out of the ball and played ball control offense. He took some criticism for being too conservative, etc. but it was an effective strategy and I think it was the right one. We might need to do some of that this year. If we can punch them in the mouth early and get a couple of stops so that we get a lead, Drink will probably start draining the clock like we did at UNC. I hope he doesn't go quite as conservative as he did that day because a pass here and there might have preserved some drives. In this case, Louisiana's D is not as good as UNC so we will see.

Maybe. I tend to think the point about ZT not being healthy the first time was a bigger factor. But also, maybe we need to give the opponent a little credit.

For the season as a whole, Thomas averaged a little over 8 yards per pass with a 63% completion rate. In the two games vs. ULL, he was a combined 16/33 (48%) for 181 yards (5.5 ypa). Obviously that is a lower number of attempts than usual; we also weren't as effective as usual when we did throw it. Perhaps Satt went more conservative because we weren't able to throw successfully when we did try.

Whatever the cause(s), the end result was that ULL held us to two of our three lowest point totals of the season with ZT in the lineup.
