The press is great. I just hope the players and coaches forget about it. Literally now one more loss and it all goes away with no shot at getting back. Win out and we could end up in the top 20. Georgia State is the most important thing right now. They are a good team who is hungry to beat us. We are now back to being the Super Bowl for every one we play. I hope we put the same effort into Georgia State that we put into South Carolina. If we do then we will win.

Really isn't this basically what every good team is facing one way or the other???

Well the reason that is 100% true now is because of the remaining schedule. No P5s and no G5 games like SMU, Navy, Cincy, etc that would move the needle. A top 25 team does not lose to 2 G5 teams. Just does not happen. If we win out, including a bowl, then we will be 18-21 range. If we lose one more game and win the rest we will receive votes but be at the low end. Voters can forgive one close loss to an unranked but lose multiple games like that with a low SOS and you fall out for good.

Example, Illinois is 6-4 right now and if they win out they WILL be ranked and could pass us. They lost to Eastern Michigan and Nebraska but have gotten a lot better. Their other losses are to Minnesota and Michigan. They beat a ranked Wisconsin team and just beat a Michigan State team that is a little beat up but has been receiving votes. If they somehow beat Iowa, Northwestern, and win their bowl they would probably pass us. They would have three wins over ranked team most likely, including a bowl.

Looks like we're 26 in the AP. Lets go take care of business in Atlanta and get our spot back!

So 20 (SMU) and 21 (Navy) play each other, 22 Texas plays Iowa State, 23 Iowa plays Minnesota, and 24 Indiana has Penn State all this upcoming weekend. That's a lot of potential to get back in with all of those teams more than likely being the underdogs (while the Cyclones have been pushing the ranked teams to the edge as of late) in those matchups.
