Old timer here. I hope you’ll be traveling to Boone (nothing personal lol).
Two long time restaurants that have both been in business 35+/- years are Peppers (sandwiches salads etc) and Peddler Steak House. Peppers has best fried mushrooms ever. Good App memorabilia on the walls. Peddler has great salad bar and they will cut your steak to order table side.
You’ll be welcome across campus for tailgating but the West Campus near the stadium is under massive construction so tailgating is different than years past. I tailgate on top of new stadium parking deck. Drop by and enjoy some food and drink. PM me for our parking space number but you’ll find you’re welcome most places. Also, since kickoff is noon, things will start early!
Safe travels, welcome to App!

The Jean Lawson is still as good as it ever was, but it would be hard for me to comment on anything else since I seldom order anything else.

Sad, but true. Overpriced and quality has gone downhill.

There are many places in downtown that are good to eat and drink. There are some newer places that I really enjoy, The Local, Lost Providence Brewery, CoBo for sushi and there are some old time favorites like Macados that I still find consistently good but some on here aren't fans. You also have the Daily Bread, Coyote Kitchen, Proper, and Ransom. The Daniel Boone Inn is a classic but once again many on here have issues with it, I like it and always have. For breakfast downtown Melanie's is good and Boone Bagelry is a an old time classic. I have eaten at all of these places and had good to great food and great times. They are all within a 5-7 minute walk from the furthest away to the furthest away. I really don't think you can go wrong eating downtown. As far as places with multiple tvs and bar atmosphere for watching other games that are downtown, I would say Macodos and Ransom.

Well Cajun, so much for having lunch on Kings street before the game. ESPN just announced that the Sunbelt Championship will air on ESPN at 12:00 EST. If we do host the game you guys still owe it to yourselves to go into town. If not before the game for breakfast, after the game for dinner. There are a number of places on Kings street that serve breakfast. Or if you want to go all out for breakfast you could hit the Dan’l Boone inn. It’s just a a few minutes from the heart of down town. It’s been there forever and they serve family style.

Black Cat for an eclectic selection of burritos. They have a hamburger burrito, philly cheese steak burrito, so not your typical Mexican joint.
Another favorite of mine is Lost Province Brewing. Right off King Street, they feature a wood fired oven and have good pizza, and the best pork chop sandwich I've ever had. Their pretzels and pimento cheese dip are good too. I'm not a drinker, but my friends tell me they have good beer. The Horton Hotel features a rooftop bar, though I'm not sure it will be open this time of year. If so, I'd go up there for some cool views. CoBo for Japanese and Sushi. Macado's has great wings. If you go there make sure to get a cinnamon bun. Proper is a nice sit-down restaurant with southern cuisine. Espresso News is a local coffee shop if you're looking for good coffee in the morning. That's all I can think of right now. Blowing Rock has some nice restaurants as well. I'd recommend going up there if you get a chance.
GO! FIGHT! KICK ASS!

So the bad news is that staying 10 minutes SE of the stadium, you aren't really close to anything except the stadium. You'll have to walk about 20-25 minutes to get to restaurants or bars on Rivers Street or King Street, but at least it's downhill. The reward is good though, all of these places mentioned in this post are good. I love Melanie's if you can get there before the game for breakfast. Casa Rustica is good and it's pretty close on HWY 105. If you get a chance before you you leave Boone, try Come Back Shack for excellent burgers.

Hmm. I caught hell for recommending Daniel Boone Inn on here once. I stand by my post. It's one of my favorites. Southern country food. Worth the wait in line if you have time.

Love Daniel Boone Inn, especially breakfast. Also Sunny Rock in Blowing Rock is spectacular for breakfast.

Ale house is your best choice for a sports bar atmosphere.
People love the burritos at black cat but you wont see sports in there... just hippies.

Hippies are no problem as long as they are wearing flea collars. ;)

Let’s not do that this week. He’s not from UNC———Harrisburg.

Cajun fan:
Thank you for your confidence in our team tonight. Yall made Troy look bad last weekend. I expect there's still some fight left, so we will see.

As to restaurants in Boone, my personal favorite is Makoto's Japanese Steakhouse. Not within walking distance of stadium. But, it has been my own post-game tradition for about 20 years. Having said that, noon kickoffs put a kink in tailgating plans, and in dinner plans. We will probably hit Makotos anyway.

Hope you enjoy your trip. Everything except the game, that is.

I'll throw another vote for Woodlands BBQ in Blowing Rock. Try the House wings, you won't be disappointed.

Google maps is giving me roughly the same drive time from Concord by taking Hwy 321 or I-77. Can someone compare/contrast the routes for me? Don't know which one I should take. Thanks!!
