I think he mistyped and that should be FSUasu7 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2019 7:31 pmInteresting about Norvell to FAU. Smh on that on one. Lundsford to Army would be funny.AppStateNews wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2019 7:23 pmWith the Arkansas job at least.. rumor Mills have Norvell from Memphis going to FAU.. Drink will be an option for many schools that can pay more than us.
ULaLa's AD has publically said he's expecting Napier to be gone too, so we aren't alone.
Something to watch for the Iggles that are getting a kick out of this -- Monken is a candidate for Mizzou. If that happens, Lundsford would have to be a top candidate for Army given how few people run the middle school offense any more. I know Lundsfords not tied to that offense, but it's all he's ran as a head coach.

Re: Drink interviews w/ Ark
FSU had a presser set up earlier in the week and painted the field, but then Matt Campbell's Iowa State extension was announced and then FSU immediately took down the stage and seats set up for the presser.
With Ole Miss, Mizzou, Arkansas, South Florida and potentially Memphis, Tulane opening up in response, it's a coach's market out there.

Re: Drink interviews w/ Ark
I think this will really show us what Drink is about. Does he want any job that takes him out of Boone for a decent pay raise at another G5, or does he turn down those jobs and wait for a big payday at a P5 school like Satterfield did. I can’t fault anyone for wanting to secure a better salary, but to me, it is much different to do it on the highest level while trying to build a P5 program that has a chance to be in the playoff, than it is at another g5 school that just happens to pay more.

If I’m Drink and I know what I have coming back next year I wait on the right job not just the next one.

This thought, far more than any coach, is what scares me more for the state of App athletics than any other.TakeTheStairs2019 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2019 11:25 amOne question I wonder is, how has Doug Gillin not been on anyone's radar? I think he is the best AD in the country....
I had a business class at App taught by a first year professor who had just retired from a successful business career. On the first day of class, he said he brought his family on vacation to Blowing Rock and before he left to go back home a few days later, he had already notified his employer he was retiring, inquired at App about open positions, and contacted realtors in Watagua Co and back home.
I hope everytime I hear him speak that Doug Gillin is like this professor.

I wouldn't be surprised to see DG gone before Drink. I'm sure he'd like to be somewhere they don't have to check pockets for change.

Re: Drink interviews w/ Ark
I think if hes offered any P5 job he takes it but i agree that going to a G5 basically for more money and virtually no chance at the college football playoff wouldnt be wise. We should be very successful again next year so he would be bigger name especially if Kiffin Norvell etc go this year. I dont know how NC State views him but many believe Doeren will be coaching for his job next year despite his extension.
