I agree. Keep the App people that drink kept on staff, give lance ware a coaching spot, bring in legitimate OC/QB Coach. Fill in rest spots with best people we can find

There are signs it likely will be Clark. I do hope he names Gas as DC. I fear Harbison and Link are gone. If we can at least keep one of the two between Gas and Link I'll be happy.

Doug, don't take the easy way out. Do a legitimate search. If it is someone presently on staff then they will shine in the process. Hire the best candidate for the job....

Link "linked" himself to Drink's star a long time ago. Pretty much anyone Drink brought in came because they thought Drink was going places.
If anyone stays, it will be Satt's holdovers. Gas is the holdover most likely to follow Drink, IMO.

If Clark is the guy would love to see him elevate Lance Ware to a paid offensive coach. Would love to have a pipeline to Cleveland County football.

Re: Our Next Head Mountaineer
ugh.
going 12-1, winning a conference championship, being ranked #20 in the nation, and still only getting UAB in a bowl, can't possibly help the pitch.

Re: Our Next Head Mountaineer
If we elevate Clark to HC, keep Gas as DC, maybe we can keep Riley if we offer him the OC position? He can run this offense and I don’t think he gets that title if he follows Drink.

What does it matter who you play in the bowl if you're not around to coach in it?savoyspecial21 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2019 7:43 pmugh.

You can now add a 3rd chip to these guys shoulder.

Re: Our Next Head Mountaineer
Normally I would agree with your take - but not this time - we just saw what happens when you hire a head coach who is looking to move up as soon as possible - Hell, me and Moose and 78 and 94 could coach the returning players to at least 9 wins. You have to figure any interested coach who wants to move up quickly can see what Coach Satterfield and drink have done in the last 2 years and can see the $$$ on the horizon - HIRE AN APP GUY WHO WANTS TO BE THE APP GUY!!!Longrifle28 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2019 7:23 pmDoug, don't take the easy way out. Ledford ain’t coming back. He turned us down last year. He can stay at UL as long as he wants. I think ivey would come back, but not sure if it would have to be as HC or DC, and in either case, I think the guys who stayed and coached under Drink (gas and Clark) deserve to be elevated ahead of him

Re: Our Next Head Mountaineer
I’m all in on Gasparato for DC.
That being said, does anyone think Roof stays? His son just transferred in.
Just something to think about.
Wish we could keep Coach Cheese, but I’m afraid he’s gone too. He’s been a career journeyman.
GO APPS!!

Re: Our Next Head Mountaineer
I'd love to see Roof stay. He did great with the defense this year and maybe he's at the age where settling down somewhere is more appealing than starting over somewhere else yet again. He's a quality guy and the players seem to respond to him. Many of you will call me crazy, but I would give some thought to offering him HC, moving Clark to OC and Gas to DC. That combo could give us stability for a few years.

Pretty much what I am thinking. I hope we can keep some guys but I'm sure Link is gone. It was like Brown and Ponce for Satt. I sure hope we can keep Gas though.AppfaninCAALand wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2019 7:24 pmLink "linked" himself to Drink's star a long time ago.
