New recruits
Two Things:
1. I noticed that Sincere Brown has not yet signed with us. Any speculations why? 6'5 receiver. Would love to have that size at receiver.
2. I also noticed that we are below UNCC in the recruiting ranks. How did this happen?

Re: New recruits
1. No personal knowledge but anytime a kid doesn't sign during the early deadline is because he likely wants to go in February. Now, as to why they want February, there can be a lot of reasons. They're still not sure, or they want the spotlight when there will be less commits, or he could be waiting on grades to improve.appaholic99 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2019 6:20 amTwo Things:

2. Depends on the recruiting website but also the total points used to rank classes are a function of both quality and quantity. So on 247, App is 74 and Charlotte is 90. But on Rivals App is 93 and Charlotte is 82. Rivals only shows App with 16 commits compared to 19 for Charlotte. They give App a higher per recruit rating, but having more guys puts Charlotte higher. I would wait a few days so all the sites can properly update. Although I personally prefer 247 because I believe theirs is a composite ranking and not just the 247 scout rankings.

Re: New recruits
2. Above
Means absolutely NOTHING. Neither us nor Charlotte (and probably any other G5) garnered any “4” or “5” star recruits. Those of us with eyeballs know that on our current active roster we easily have some 4 star caliber (and P5) type guys- Evans, Sutton, Zac, etc. These rankings are absolutely subjective and there is no way any service is devoting any real time to guys who fall into the 3 range.

Re: New recruits
Which site are you using for rankings? We are #74 and UNCC is #90 on 247Sports, which is the consensus best site for such matters.appaholic99 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2019 6:20 amTwo Things:

Re: New recruits
Recruiting rankings are very subjective, but there is some truth to it. You can have somewhat of an idea who's going to be stacked and who's not. G5 it tends to be more of a crapshoot, but I like to follow it and keep up with the depth and the way they're building out the roster.
What do you guys think of the Navy Shuler? Do you think he could be the next guy for us after Thomas?

Hard to say but I'd expect Shuler to red-shirt and maybe be the guy after David Baldwin-Griffin, who I would expect to follow Zac.NashvilleNeer wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2019 10:57 amRecruiting rankings are very subjective, but there is some truth to it. Re: New recruits
He played in a private school league so there isn't much to go on. I'd say he reminds me a bit of Taylor Lamb with a quicker release. Arm strength would be a concern if you're trying to go vertical which I believe App will do under Shawn Clark. Shuler looks more like a Drinkwitz pure precision type passer on intermediate routes with some escapability.NashvilleNeer wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2019 10:57 amRecruiting rankings are very subjective, but there is some truth to it. Re: New recruits
What are you talking about. 247 Uncc commits ranked #90. App ranked 74. This is with a coaching change

Re: New recruits
Changing the subject here, sort of, but what other needs might we have? We didn't have an running backs in this class and not many receivers, hopefully we'll get the one guy in Feb.
How many open scholarships do we have? Any potential transfers look interesting?
I'm assuming Clark & Co will re-assess after the bowl game.

Re: New recruits
It appears 6 of 17 will be enrolling in January to get a jump on school and S&C/Spring ball. Maybe we'll get to see a couple of the freshmen make the 2 deep next season.

1. Take a sample of blood and send to our humble Board Moderators to be tested for black and gold status.TheAppalachianState wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2019 12:06 pmThe recruiting forum is private though, how do we gain entry? Lol
2. You must allow an in home inspection by same moderators to make sure your closet and drawers are free of P5 and other G5 clothing.
3. You must verify your inclusion to the Yosef Club.
4. Prove your affinity for BBQ and show that you know how to use cups and ice - preferably at the same meal.
5. You must lose your cool and demand for a coach's head in one of his 1st few games.
6. You must derail a thread about football into all of the above subjects.
7. If all that fails, just email our moderator and ask permission.

Re: New recruits
It should not be said in a public forum but hopefully we will still be able to sign him in February. We should all be pulling for things to get done so we can finalize him. His film looks great and like you said we need that type of size.appaholic99 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2019 6:20 amTwo Things:

As for the rankings they are irrelevant like others said. I doubt UNCC really believes they got better players than we did. We have a lot of guys who had Charlotte offers. The only way UNCC ends up with a better class is if they somehow evaluate and develop talent better than we are doing because right now our name is hot and if a player has an offer from both schools they are going to lean App State for sure.
