DG said they were getting an architect to work on it next month. Construction would begin right after Luke Combs Concert on 2 May.CornCobPipes wrote: ↑Sat Dec 28, 2019 8:02 pmLooking good!

Re: NEZ work today
If we on this board all show up with a shovel and a wheel barrow, we should be able to get it done in a weekend. Right?

Count me out. I moved dirt in my backyard for 3 hours. Maybe I can help next month.

Re: NEZ work today
I hope we go seats all the way to field level. I've seen how Navy-Marine Corps stadium has permanent seats on the top and grass on the bottom...it just looks weird.CornCobPipes wrote: ↑Sat Dec 28, 2019 8:02 pmLooking good!

Re: NEZ work today
Forget the funding issue for the moment and consider this. It's a mighty ambitious undertaking to get all of the architectural and engineering work completed, get the necessary final approvals of the BOT, the UNC-BOG, the State of NC Engineering Div., and the State of NC Purchase and Contracts Div.; advertise for bids; accept bids; excavate/grade the Miller Hill and haul in a zillion cubic yards of fill dirt to "move" the hill closer to the SEZ AND fully replace the Field Turf in KBS between January 6th (when the university reopens) and Sept, 5th for the first game of the season--considering that site prep and excavation/installations could not begin before Monday, May 4--at he earliest. We're all very well "schooled" at how slowly the cogs of university admin and NC state gov't turn and mesh.Appstatf e88 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 28, 2019 8:12 pmCornCobPipes wrote: ↑Sat Dec 28, 2019 8:02 pmLooking good!

The turf replacement will happen! No prob! IMHO, completion of the Miller Hill extension nearer to the SEZ--??--will require nothing less than a miracle.
Never mind that work on the new "south campus" (105) will be at full bore, requiring a lot of admin attention and using up a lot of oxygen during the same time frame.
I just dunno about the tight time lines--but these are GREAT issues to be discussing and it's a mighty fine time to be a Mountaineer!
If it happens to the Apps, it happens to me!

Re: NEZ work today
I do not want any seats in the south end zone. This is the current plan. Just bring it closer in proportion to the north end zone distance from the field. Create a larger plaza area for pedestrian traffic walking between East and West stands. Create more space for concessions. Grade Miller Hill with less slope and keep it natural grass. I think it is a good plan.APPdiesel wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2019 1:18 amI hope we go seats all the way to field level. Re: NEZ work today
Just curious. I’m watching construction today. Being that it’s Sunday is there a lot of extra overtime being paid or was this cost already built in? Is it necessary to have this work done on Sunday?

It’s necessary to work when the weather gives you the opportunity up here! I dropped by last night and it’s looking very impressive. The seats look way closer to the end zone than I expected from the drawings. I’ve never been a big fan of the perspective end zone seats give of the game but this project puts the seats so high and close to the end zone that I may change my mind. It’s going to be amazing.

Re: NEZ work today
This shot is from the east side above the large rock by the old ticket office. The large courtyard platform that comes off the back of the new end zone building perfectly lines up with the main concessions level of the east and west side. In other words, it only lacks a very small bridge to connect to the new end zone and you could walk to it above field level. It’s so close to being able to walk around the whole stadium at concessions level.
