Re: Way too early top 25
I wouldn't be shocked if we finish #20 with #21 Navy defeating KState. The only team I see moving behind us would be Boise. Of all of the things we needed to happen only Boise losing has taken place.

Shocked Minnesota beat Auburn. Good for them.
Still think our worst case is 17 but we shall see.

Memphis. And I still think we pass one of Utah or Michigan. Fresno State finished 12-2 last year and was ranked 18.

Here is my guess at the AP Poll assuming Georgia and Cincy win. I had a hard time thinking Boise drops out but Miss State was #18 last year and they fell out when they lost.

Re: Way too early top 25
I posted what I thought it could look like. We could pass Memphis and we should. I think we should pass Utah but will voters drop them as much as I did? They should. I would push Texas ahead of Utah for sure. Washington should also move up a ton. I don't think we would beat Michigan but we are going to pass them. So we could go up to 16 but I'm with you 17 is our worst case.

Re: Way too early top 25
IMO Cincy will leapfrog is. BC obviously sucks but blasting a P5 team 38-6 still means something.
I think when you compare our outcome vs UAB against theirs against BC, they will get the nod. Which sucks but oh well. Hope I’m wrong.

Re: Way too early top 25
Crazy to think but it could happen. To me, however, 13-1 is hard for Cincy to jump.
I also see App being either first or second among the G5. I know that Memphis lost but they kept it close against a top 10 P5 team. I can't imagine Memphis gets too heavily penalized for that loss, similar to how Cincy stayed ahead of App after losing to Memphis in the regular season despite having one more loss.

Re: Way too early top 25
I have no idea how things will turn out in the final poll. We could be anywhere from the #2 G5 to #4 behind three AAC schools.

I'm also a little worried about Navy leapfrogging us...I could see voters putting Memphis, Cincy and Navy ahead of us...or at least 2 of the three.citroknight wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2020 12:48 amCrazy to think but it could happen. To me, however, 13-1 is hard for Cincy to jump.

Re: Way too early top 25
Playing early in the bowl season, will anyone remember that we finished on a 31-3 run against an also ran C-USA team? I imagine they will just look at a modest 14 point victory against a not so good team and keep us where we are at 20.

Re: Way too early top 25
I think it would be incredibly disrespectful to our program as a whole if we are put behind any 3-loss G5 team, but I have a feeling it could happen.

I'm almost anticipating that.Rick83 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2020 8:39 amI'm also a little worried about Navy leapfrogging us...I could see voters putting Memphis, Cincy and Navy ahead of us...or at least 2 of the three.citroknight wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2020 12:48 amCrazy to think but it could happen. Re: Way too early top 25
Looking at the AAC rankings holistically, voters/pollsters will probably think like this:
Memphis gave it a pretty good go against PSU, so drop them 2-3 spots to around 17
Cincy got rolled a couple times by Memphis, but had a good bowl game, so we can't put them above Memphis. So put them at 18
Navy had a great year, and won their bowl game, but didn't win their conference. So put them around 20-21.
App State??? They play in the Sun Belt, and even if they were 20 before, we can't put them anywhere else, so slot them in around 22-23
I'm fully expecting this, because we're so far out of mind.

To me, it looks like the ceiling is 17, floor is 21. I'll split the difference and say we wind up at 19.
