Re: Roof out
We can be just fine. As long as Gas stays we are good. As for going to Vandy I am not sure that is a good move for him. If he could have been our DC for one more year and we dominate then I would think perhaps a P5 in a good situation would want him. Again though this is another example of paying peanuts to staff members. Coaches with his experience aren't going to stay when they can triple their salary.

Re: Roof out
I assumed he’d be gone. His reported low salary with us combined with his experience made for an obvious departure.
I’ll echo the sentiment that I hope Jones is back as a AHC/LB and not as the DC. We’ve been down that road before.

Re: Roof out
I am pleased Roof found a place to land as it seemed he would not be forced out with his son here and fairly solid defensive performance over the season. Should relieve some fan/board concerns and hopefully create opportunity for Gas to have some elevated role.

Re: Roof out
I was impressed with Roof at practices and he is very smart. There were the problems early with mixing his style with the 3-4 hybrid, but accepting of the move to the booth was for the best, and his defense saved Drink several times when the offensive playcalling went too conservative.
And I say that as someone who wanted Roof gone after the UNCC game.

Re: Roof out
This! I think he was what we needed this past year and the D answered the bell most everytime. He has a talk task ahead of him at Vandy but he has the ability and experiences to make improvements. Thanks Coach, best wishes moving forward to you and your family!T-Dog wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2020 1:29 pmI was impressed with Roof at practices and he is very smart. Re: Roof out
Let’s hope it’s Gas. The team loves him. He and Riley will compliment each other. I agree Roof bailed out Drink’s offensive play calls more than I’d like to remember. Our inability to sustain drives due to lack of Short passes is going to wear down our defense no matter who is there. Gotta use the tight ends.

Re: Roof out
I echo the sentiment of no to Jones for D.C. That would seem like a step back for us. One thing you can say about Drink's hires last year is they each garnered some excitement every time one was announced. Sure hoping for some of that feeling with the upcoming announcements, but if its Jones for D.C, not feeling it.

The staff has been set. All we are waiting on is an announcement. All in good time.Appstate88 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2020 3:16 pmI want the staff in place so we can get back to early spring ball.
