Will make for a great lifting area, looking out onto the field and south end zone.

The bottom half will feature a big glass window.
I keep seeing people say this, but I haven't seen any renderings with a big glass window.

Scrolling through the renderings on the project site, all I see is a brick wall.
See this link.

To get back to NEZ talk, I was in Boone today and couldn't not go by KBS. There was so much bitching about how far the building was from the field when the footings were being poured. I hope all you folks who were so quick to complain are looking at it now. If the seating continued along the same plain and went all the way to the ground, seating would end in the back of the endzone. The building is huge and the positioning is perfectly proportional. KBS is really going to be loud!
Only problem with that is according to renderings, it won’t go to the ground. It’s upper half only. The bottom half will feature a big glass window.
Serious question, how close do you think too close would be to the field? The bottom row of seats will be about 10 yards behind the back of the endzone, but high enough up to see well. I think this design is great for player safety. It puts fans close but players still have room to decelerate and not run into a barrier. And the windows will be in the building the stands are attached to, not under the front edge of the stands. The bottom half will not have windows.

I believe there will be a few windows under the stands where the new weightlifting area is going. See this link and flip through the renderings.

I think the design looks pretty solid. My only knocks are:

- I wish the end towers were brick. I see the lighter color showing stains with Boone weather more.

-I wish we would have considered visiting locker rooms. The old locker rooms are too nice for a visiting team. Not to mention that space could be used for something of need and is a logistical nightmare for opposing teams.

Outside of that, the building size and space is nice. Should be cool to have the team run out from there end zone again.

Are we still considering giving the current locker room to visitors and them running across our field? Any intel?

No intel here, but my guess is our current locker room is the only place we have for opposing teams at this point.

We should renovate that space (read: make it smaller and less nice) over next offseason.

Why would we want the visiting team under our stands? They will have to block off the concourse area for them to walk through which stops the flow of fans.

The same thing happened while they were at Quinn this season, but on the east side. It's inevitable no matter where you put the team.

I hope that they spell Mountaineers correctly on the fascia of the new building. The rendering has it as Mountainee

Lol it’s just a replica of what is on the east side. Doubtful they spend $50M to end up with a cut off Mountaineers. This crowd can pick apart anything positive with the best of them.

I’m sure. Just kidding but it is kind of funny.

This was the negotiated settlement for last year's "Apps" "Neers" debate. We will now be the Mountainee (rhymes with Detainee) 8-)

At the conference championship game, we had wait for them to drag ass back up the hill to Quinn before we could go on the field.

Is there really any serious viable solution for visiting locker rooms?

Thinking VERY long term, if Miller Hill is ever partially/totally replaced with stands, a locker room could be built underneath those stands.

Until then I see no viable solution besides putting visitors in the locker room under the west stands.

I don't understand why the new facility wasn't designed with facilities for the visiting team. It seems the current locker room space could be re-designed and repurposed for whatever would be displaced from the NEZ building. Having them under the West stands and having to cross through the crowd just seem like a horrible solution.

Completely agree with this... and if they have to cross through the crowd anyway, it's way better to keep them at the Quinn and let them cross over on the East side. The Quinn actually seemed to work a lot better this year than I expected.

Sounds like a good question for Ask the Ad. Maybe they didn’t have the square footage on the bottom floor to allocate to another locker room.
