Re: Who stays, who goes?
Our defensive performance at Louisiana was one of the best in decades. Everything was a stake that night. Winning that game set the table for the season. Ted Roof played a major role in winning a record setting thirteen games , the championship and the bowl .I hope we can replace what he brought to our program.

Good ST play helped both sides of the ball this year. ST is another area we need to fill with a quality coach.

Also strongly agree on the ST note. Having a dedicated ST coach took our teams to another level.

There's a reason that Pete Rose isn't in the HOF - he's off his rocker!

Re: Who stays, who goes?
Not only was the schedule somewhat harder (definitely not weaker) than 2018, but Drink put a LOT of pressure on the D by going conservative so early. Despite his label of being an offensive guru, we relied more heavily on the D for wins in 2019 than we did in 2018. By that, I mean there were games where the offense sputtered or took a while to get going but the D kept us in the game.

We can look at rankings for comparison all day and nit pick why. I just don’t think it is as easy as pointing to the coach and blaming him and his assistants for a perceived regression. We were 13-1 with a lot of those victories helped greatly by the defense.

In one score games against the Carolinas, we scored a defensive TD in each.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 10:37 amWe can look at rankings for comparison all day and nit pick why. Re: Who stays, who goes?
Pointed this out earlier, we had defensive scores in at least 5 games. Not turnovers which are big, but scores which are huge. I would have loved to have had coach Roof return for another year. I think he could have really built on lesson learned from 2019.hapapp wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 11:43 amIn one score games against the Carolinas, we scored a defensive TD in each.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 10:37 amWe can look at rankings for comparison all day and nit pick why. Count me in the same boat as you, I really wish we could have kept Coach Roof as our DC for a few more years.

Like the Kuechly thoughts, but pretty sure he lands on the Panthers staff. Gonna miss watching him play.

I say hire him as Co-defensive coordinator and play caller right now, if he wanted it. He can do whatever he wants to do now, I'm sure. Doubt he's spent much of the money he's made. Doesn't meed football any longer.

Not sure his love for the Comeback Shack and fly fishing is enough to lure him here.

Could end up back in Boston, but I’ll bet his location will have a lot to do with what the wife wants.proasu89 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2020 8:46 amNot sure his love for the Comeback Shack and fly fishing is enough to lure him here.

I don't know anything about his wife, but my guess is the first thing she'd want is for him to ditch the girlfriend he thanked in his retirement video.Mjohn1988 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2020 11:08 amCould end up back in Boston, but I’ll bet his location will have a lot to do with what the wife wants.proasu89 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2020 8:46 amNot sure his love for the Comeback Shack and fly fishing is enough to lure him here.

Re: Who stays, who goes?
Sorry, I should have known better than to listen to my wife who told me he was married to a young lady who works in health care. Guess my wife was wrong or he’s in trouble.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2020 11:36 amI don't know anything about his wife, but my guess is the first thing she'd want is for him to ditch the girlfriend he thanked in his retirement video.Mjohn1988 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2020 11:08 amCould end up back in Boston, but I’ll bet his location will have a lot to do with what the wife wants.proasu89 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2020 8:46 amNot sure his love for the Comeback Shack and fly fishing is enough to lure him here.
