Re: Assistant Coaching Position Assignments
Really interested to see how the coordinator positions perform long term. Both have lot’s of experience and lots of returning talent. Can they continue the success and upward trajectory of the past? I really hope so.
I like having Cardwell back on the sidelines, he is the we missed last year. Braswell seems like an up and comer by all accounts, and interesting wording for the Special Teams/Running backs coach. Showing an emphasis on special teams and he has the experience to back it up. Hopefully the strength coach will be a good fit and this crew can continue to lead us beyond expectations and keep us in the National conversation

It's a different feel but somehow similar to last year's staff. Lots of "App guys", so they get the benefit of a doubt when they outsiders didn't. Now we see if our App folks can continue the success.... I see no reason they won't but you never know. go apps!

Not worried about Cardwell as Oline. Dale jones as ILB coach, perfect. Dale Jones as DC, nervous but cautiously optimistic. DeBastiani at safeties, same. We will be breaking in a new set of starting safeties , hopefully he is up for the task.GregPercussion wrote: ↑Wed Feb 12, 2020 10:26 amIt's a different feel but somehow similar to last year's staff. Dale Jones as DC is my biggest concern. Hopefully he has learned a lot and is better this time around.

That's my thinking as well. I have to believe that he has learned some valuable lessons from his previous stent as DC and gained some very high quality experience since then. He has some good assistants who will feed him information. I choose to be optimistic and believe he will do a great job.appstatealum wrote: ↑Wed Feb 12, 2020 11:23 amDale Jones as DC is my biggest concern. Re: Assistant Coaching Position Assignments
If Dale does come in and crushes it then it's a huge home run. He is all in for App and would give us a long term coach for a very important position. We all know how hard it is to find that. I think he will do great and for people who are nervous I get it, but definitely worth the gamble looking at the potential long term if it goes well.

I’m not worried about Dale as DC. He had a say in play calling with Woody. He understands the defense and how it works. DeBastiani has been a DC as well and knows how to call a game. Braswell understands the defense as well as anyone and can lend some insight on what works and adjustments. Dale will be fine and he has a great support staff.

The dudes who call the X’s and the O’s are only as good as the Jimmies and the Joes. Keep recruiting those hidden gems.
