Re: Chris Willis enters Transfer Portal
Dang! I was looking forward to him getting back on the field this year. Anybody know the story here? Is he back to 100%? We dont have a ton of depth on the D-line, so I can’t imagine he was buried in the depth chart.

Depth was lost for sure, but quality depth wasn’t guaranteed. He was coming off a significant injury. We still have five guys returning and we only played four. We also have two or three Freshmen that we can rotate in and out four four games a piece.appstate24 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 13, 2020 8:26 pmDang! I thought he was really good as a sophomore. It’s a shame he never got back on the field for us.

Wow, I expected him to be an impact player this year...
Wonder if this is related to his injury last year???

Re: Chris Willis enters Transfer Portal
absolutely.
Does anyone know if this also could be a situation where he is just seeing what other kinds of fit are out there, and if something that fits his needs isn't out there he comes back?

Re: Chris Willis enters Transfer Portal
I heard rumors that we told him he needs to retire due to injury but he feels he can play. I also wish him luck and hope he stays healthy. I wonder where he ends up and would think a lot of G5 schools would want to take a shot since he would be coming from App.Longrifle28 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 14, 2020 7:51 amWow, I expected him to be an impact player this year...

Re: Chris Willis enters Transfer Portal
This is accurate information. Our doctors are telling him he should be done. They think if he plays again, he could have potentially life altering effects. It's not a typical Achilles injury. He's had a second opinion and they think he can still play.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 18, 2020 7:27 pmI heard rumors that we told him he needs to retire due to injury but he feels he can play. There's still a chance he stays -- he's just looking at what options are available right now. If he stays, our coaches have said he will stay on scholarship regardless if hes able to play or not.

All the best for Chris wherever he ends up. He has bled for the Black and Gold and helped leave a positive mark on the program. Good luck young man (and hope to see you later this year).
